Comment by 'Doctor_Code' in 'Kitchen WTA extraction method.'

Has anyone tried this? After reading about WTAs it sounds interesting. I was always better in physics than chemistry. It seems logical - I vaguly rember doing acid/base extractions, but I also don't want to make something that is not safe.

    5V Solid Wood Mod Continued....

I didn't even think about that, good idea. The electronics hole only went down about an inch and a half. Just enough to get everything in there. If I make another one I will have to do more planing. I like the solid wood look and feel, but it makes wiring and routing of tubes difficult. :)

    5V Solid Wood Mod Continued....

Here is a picture of the voltage regulator with all the additional components. and here is everything crammed inside the wooden enclosure. To keep things in place, and tidy them up a bit, I used hot glue to keep all but the feed wires in the hole. The screws you see hold things...

    5V Solid Wood Mod

I started this mod pretty much on a whim, with no real plan in place and using a 'scrap' piece of Mahogany. Much of what I ended up doing was to make things work. The piece of wood I had was about 1.5 inches by .75 inches I cut off enough to hold two Trustfire 14500 batteries end to end - plus...

Low power micro switch MOSFET transistor tutorial

It's less of a voltage thing, and more of an amperage thing. The micro switches I am using are rated at 12V and 0.05A (50mA). It takes a lot more amperage to fire off the atty. I just put a multimeter on my atty, and got 3.7 Ohms of resistance. With the 5V mod the atty would pull about...

Didn't let the alcohol dry out of my atty long enough..

Unless you are using everclear or something (which is so strong it stripped the paint off my atty) there is a lot of water still in vodka or the likes. Yeah, I'd let it dry more - I usually let mine dry over night before using again. Also, I have had flooded attys do the same thing...

Low power micro switch MOSFET transistor tutorial

In my mods I've always had lots of problems with switches. To get a switch small enough I would usually have to run the switch far past what it was rated for. This would burn the switches out pretty quickly and lead to complete failure, or at least 'flaky' operation. So far I've seen some...

Zero-day Carmel Apple (Granny Smith) Review

Awesome! I'm going to have to check the flavor out - I've been looking for a good 'green apple' flavor for a while now. Nothing I have found comes close to the intensity I'm looking for.

    5V UglyKit

I should have taken the Blow Off a bit better to the heat sink before I took the picture! I thought about keeping the fan on, but it would have kept hitting my fingers when I vape. Liquid cooled...hmmm....that's an idea!

    5V UglyKit

Well, here is my 5V mod using a 7850 voltage regulator from Radio Shack. I wouldn't recommend using it, it get's very hot and shuts off after a vape - until things cool down a bit. While I wait for my TI PTR08100WVD as recommended in other posts, I added on a heat sink. OK, it might be a bit...

How to make a 5V mod with a TI regulator.

Yes, the regulator I got was rated for up to 35V max in and 1A out. I figured it would get hot, just not *that* hot. I have a sample coming from TI of the PTR08100W chip. In the mean time, I plan to play with some heat sinks to see if I can get it to run cooler - Plus a big heat sink on...

How to make a 5V mod with a TI regulator.

I tried this using a 5V voltage regulator I picked up from Radio Shack (7850, PN 276-1770). Everything works, but the regulator gets VERY hot, and after a vape or two, I can not get it to work until things cool down. (5-10 min or so) I am not using a heat sink and everything is in a 4 AA...

    USB Passthrough Wipeout

I haven't had that sort of problem with mine, and I've dumped enough juice on it. Are you sure it's the PT and not the atty? Not that this is all that helpful, but when things like that happen to me - I take it apart. It's broken anyways - you may luck out and a good drying is all it needs...

Who is your favorite E juice suppler?

I live in Wisconsin. I like Johnsoncreeksmokejuice, I have tried every flavor they have. Their flavors are not very strong - I wish I could find a stronger flavor. However, their juices produce good vapor, are reasonably priced, and they ship fast, I have also gotten juice from Vapor Bomb...

    Interchange batteries??

The PT, you should be able to use that without any problems. There are thread adapters available from lots of places. Altsmoke is where I have gotten mine from. I have a 901 and a 510 and I interchange PTs, batteries, and attys all the time using the adapters. As far as the charger itself...

    i need help too

Also, have you tried direct dripping? I find that gives me the best flavor without a burnt taste or flooding the atty. The only problem is if you vape a lot, you will always be adding a drop or two into the atty.

    i need help too

When you switch liquids is it just the flavor, or are you switching makers and PG/VG content? I don't have an ego but on my yeti I have had some problems like that. As far as burnt taste, probably means the atty is dry. Flood - well, too wet/liquid is coming out of the cart too fast...

5V mod attempt with a low amperage tatcile switch

Yes, that seems to be my fatal error in logic. My 'big' TrustFire batteries were rated at 900mAh and the ones that come with my Yeti are rated at about 320mAh. When I came across the 700mA transformer, I was thinking that would be a happy medium. Not even thinking that mA and mAh are not at...

    Constant Priming?

When I use carts, I do the same thing. I tend to vape until the cart/atty is pretty dry and find that a few drops helps to kick start the new cart. If you flood it, you will know. Vapor production will be poor, and the thing will leak from where the battery connects up to the atty...
