Looks like the voltage the batteries are charged to does depend on the charging current. 2 amp => 4.20v 1 amp => 4.22v 0.5 amp => 4.25v My cynical side can't help but to think that this is not a bug, it's a feature.

The 2540 was a card Reader/Punch. JCL, program code and data were manually punched to cards to be read into the mainframe. Was still using it in the early 80's. At the same time I remember the 4341 being upgraded to a whopping 8MB, at the time that was impressive.
