I've been using the same two EM 510 LR's since late May and they are both holding up well. While not as good as they were the first month, they still run hotter than the normal atty's at 3.7V. I haven't noticed any odd taste, but I use a stubby drip tip and keep it nice and wet at all times...

I recommend the delrin shorty drip tip from SuperT Manufacturing. Makes dripping a breeze and no metallic taste.

Congrats on your first batch of homebrew! I just mixed up a 5ml/14mg batch of strawberry-kiwi myself. I find that the S-K can be a little sharp by itself. The 20% VG helps but I also use 10% strawberry-kiwi, 5% mango and 5% tropical punch flavoring to kind of mellow it out a bit.

Anytime anything is smoking, stop using the device immediately! You don't want to risk a catastrophic battery failure. Remove the batteries and let it cool off for a while. Then check for loose wires, short circuits, etc. I've never heard of that happening, but I'm new here. What regulator...
