Thanks for all of the replies! This makes quite a bit more sense as to why it works on my laptop, and not (on what I perceived) to be a 'power source' adequate to push this thing. Not disappointed by any stretch of the imagination :) I just know now a wee bit more about my equipment :)...

Hmmmmm... Short of testing it, Im rather inclined to believe this passthrough is NOT a true 5v. In seeing that it functions perfectly on my laptop(s) but neither on my 5v (+/- 5%) car charger or plug in charger. My regular 510 battery charger seems to have no issue on either of these other...
