There's the "any old way" of cleaning, and the "proper" way of cleaning. I pretty much stick with the "any old way" method. Rubbing alcohol and a paper towel works nicely.

I've done it and it makes the Ody work very well, its my daily device. I did it to all 5 of my Odys, but only 2 are used daily.

I can't guess its actual name, but it looks like an extension. The threaded posts are two different widths. I'm guessing its solid, not a tube. Battery post?
