    Switchless copper pipe mod

Excellent mod! Incidentally, the chicago screws are used in leatherworking and should be readily available thru leathercrafting suppliers. I've some sitting around here somewhere and will have to try the idea.

    Heads up on NiZn batteries.

LOL Yeah, the coil I make is gigantic compared to a commercial model. Spreads the heat tho and is, indeed, a fog machine. I've gagged myself occasionally with the intensity of it. Neat looking mod! Now if you just had that wired with 26ga NiCr.....

Ohhhhh Yeaaaaaahhhhh, that'll do it! I've found switches rated 5A @ 125V hold up well too. They just tend to be too large for a 2 AA box. Anyway, let me know via PM on the timetable, etc. I'll start construction on a few this Friday.

    oops... douple post.

    Heads up on NiZn batteries.

Hmmm... Sounds like we may have a potential plan here. I'll have to check the wire I'm using and *may* be able to scrape some up to send along. What I'm thinking to do is send you a new version of what I've been making. The diameter would be about 1/2"x1" long. It would be meant for use with a...

    azsmokefree

Re: the OP The folks @ AZSmokefree are really superlative. I had the pleasure of meeting them when I started vaping. They really took time to be helpful and answer any questions I had. They are really good folks.

    Heads up on NiZn batteries.

And I WAS using a 2 AA box.... until the tiny switch died... & the backup died (current is too high for reliability with the much beloved tiny RS switch).... For now it is a pair in a 4 AA box. But there is a side benefit. I can run 3 NiMh and it still works pretty well. Heh. With better...

Today I Grieve My Third Mod

ROFLMAO! Sorry, it's both comedy and tragedy. You have a streak of bard in you Mark. The world can only wonder what it missed not having the tale sung by Gordon Lightfoot to the music from "The Wreck of The Edmund Fitzgerald". RIP Puffy.

My 1st mod, A stealthy little grab and go.

Thanks for posting this GB. I think I know where my next bat box will be coming from.

Why isn't there ANY mods that just fit all atties? IT'S EASY!!!!???????

Please reread what I posted. In fact, such a thing does exist. It just got buried in complaints from people saying it wasn't worthwhile buy an adapter, it won't work buy an adapter, adapters are cheap so buy an adapter, etc. even tho it was documented as being functional in theory and working...

    Atomizer / Cartomizer for life....

Interesting you guys should be discussing cotton as a wicking material. Cotton twine is available @ Chinamart in the hardware section. And I have been using it for several weeks now. Seems to work fine on my atty.... but I'm not using 36ga NiCr. It would be interesting to learn if it will work...

Why isn't there ANY mods that just fit all atties? IT'S EASY!!!!???????

Re: the OP. I threw out just such an idea as a multiadapter... with pics. The response was immediate: "too much trouble, buy an adapter". "Why don't you just buy an adapter?", "Looks like it won't work.", blah blah blah. Long story short: People want to sell adapters. Don't interfere...

    Heads up on NiZn batteries.

And yes, they still charge up and give the original outputs. Even after that unfortunate incident when I had a pair of them in my pocket with too much spare change. DOH! They did get warm. I've been in the middle of a move & much disruption for the past couple weeks, but I did take time to...

    Heads up on NiZn batteries.

Well, yes, shortening the coil on a standard atty to lower the resistance would probably rate as a BAD(TM) idea, given that they are using something like 36ga wire which is highly overloaded from the get go. What I did was capitalize on the excellent current delivery of these batteries by...

My First Mod - Down and dirty! Couldn

Kool mod Jim! I like the minimalist look. If it looks funky but works well, that's still better than looking perfect and not working. I've thougth about doing something similar to see just how cheaply a PV can be made. Clever, the way you used the aligator clip! /salute

Can A Protected Battery "Recharge" Itself?

A bit of a bad connection earlier? That sort of thing could explain it.

    Heads up on NiZn batteries.

Glad you approve! If, and that is a big "if", they withstand what I am doing, I'll end it with a "test to destruction" by pulling the same amperage out of a single bat until she won't charge no more, no more, no more, no more. I don't see how they will make it. This is pretty brutal. I'm...

    Heads up on NiZn batteries.

I don't mind at all. It's a custom construction with 2 AAs in parallel for 1.6V powering a coil with a resistance of about .27 ohms. It should be dissipating around 9W with a fresh charge, no boosters, just pure brute power! I had started off with the 3 in series and using a standard 510 atty...

    Heads up on NiZn batteries.

Thanks, It's nice to know others are watching. Of course, with any new product one wonders if the hype is true and what are the "gotchas". The gotcha with these, according to CPF anyway, is they have some sort of reduced life if too much charge is drawn. But checking other forums...

    Heads up on NiZn batteries.

Oh come now, I enjoy a little rhetorical fun & games from time to time. And I read the datasheet and feedback on CPF prior to embarking on the adventure. Speaking of the datasheet, yes, there is an issue with 1.6V during the CHARGING procedure, which typically involves applying some voltage...
