A delrin bushing between the body and center pin should be sufficient. Check your insulator material for continuity before machining as i have had a couple plastics that were conductive enough to cause shorts when used as an insulating material.
TWILIGHT vape box.
Here is what i am doing. Had potential until i messed up the corners. Now i t is a "shop box" not worth sanding and trying to make nice. But it works great.
Jrm, been drooling over the Tormach for a while. How do you like it and how much fiddling was involved in setup to get accurate and repeatable results?
UPDATE: figured it out and want to share in case someone else has the same problem.
Pin 4 on the 2596 was poorly soldiered and slightly loose. A dab of flux and a touch of the soldering iron and it is now working properly.
Frustrating to have to troubleshoot and fix a brand new part but how...
Did some checking with my meter this morning. Each full turn of the adjustment screw is only changing my vout by 0.09v. Cant figure this out.
Edit. Checked the full adjustment range and appear to be off by a factor of 10. Ie. Getting 0.05v of actual adjustment for every 0.5v i should be...
So just wired up my 2596 board and getting an output voltage range of just. .5-2.7v. Green version of the board. Any idea why so low?
Input voltage is 8.4 using two sony 18650s.
So is it really so simple????? +- input side and +- output side? Master switch on input and atty switch on output? Does it matter if the atty switch is on the +- or - side? Working on my first 2596 and the wiring just seems too easy.
At 1.6v nominal and 1.8 off the charger they seem like an ideal battery for flashlight mods which already come with a 3s style battery holder. 4.8v without any regulation of voltage just seems too simple.

I suppose it would work. However silver is costly and uninsulated. Would have to shrink wrap or insulate in some way to prevent shorts. I often use telephone wire. After removing the sheathing there are 5 or so strands of insulated copper wire inside in multiple colors.
