That should give you a hint: your wick is not primed well. You can check if it's not to tight in a hole (and you liquid can't get through). Also, make sure the air has a chance to enter the tank - without it the liquid won't come out (the underpressure!).

Well, it could be called the AVS minus the collector tank :) I did something similar a year ago, but without the sleeve covering the holes - this is a really good idea, which eliminates all the problems I had those times.
