Lexington Vape Meet Met with Opposition from Univ. of Ky Antz Professor

I have mixed feelings about this. I would have given them points if they asked to come along and provided free patches and resources for counseling. The fact that they didn't participate says to me they care nothing about public health.

Lexington Vape Meet Met with Opposition from Univ. of Ky Antz Professor

I covered this in reddit. The actual claim was that a bottle could contain 500mg of nicotine(5) . This is true. A 30ml bottle with a solution at 16.67mg/ml would be 500mg. "Cartridges can be refilled using drops of solution sold in bottles labelled as containing over 500 mg nicotine...

    Colorado man sues after explosion

I'm going for shear ignorance, compounded by Rat Shack's failure to define "high discharge rate" beyond 600mAh or higher. Who in their right mind would spend $20 for disposable Lithium batteries that would be drained in a day or two when they could get for the same price or less rechargeable...

Watch AND clock battery, batteries like 9V (E522) and D cells (PC1300, EN95, ALD) are listed. As would the the AWI L01 battery. Camera and calculator batteries tend to be included.

AWI, not AW. AFAIK AWI isn't even an exact battery but a set of specifications by the American Watchmakers-Clockmakers Institute. If you're out of Duracells, you can pull out your AWI book and find the Energizer equivalent.

    Colorado man sues after explosion

My big complain, on behalf of Radioshack and (I presume) Raovac is, Radio Shack claims to be the Battery Experts, yet they don't list the discharge rating of their CR123 batteries. Rat Shack Support on Lithium Bats The only data I have on discharge rate is how they define high discharge rate...

    Colorado man sues after explosion

Agreed, though the gent gets negative points for opting to buy a lithium battery rather than a li-ion battery. He gets plus points as Enercell batteries do NOT list their discharge rate. There is NO way for me to tell if they are approved for a 2-4 amp load. I don't know if this makes a case...

    Colorado man sues after explosion

Not bloody likely. I can verify this was a clearance item 1 year ago. I can say with modest certainty they abandoned their own line of batteries over 5 years ago. The R style logo used was in service between 1995-2004. ANYTHING with the old R logo on the shelf has been there for 8 years...

    Colorado man sues after explosion

Rat shack no longer stocks those batteries. See in the Tech Specs tab "Product Type - CLEARANCE ITEM" Enercell is what he bought., non rechargeable li-ion batteries. MSDS data. Lithium manganese dioxide cylindrical cell.

    National Geographic E-cigarette Article

If they get electricity from coal, they are polluting FAR less, FAR FAR FAR less than ANY ANY ANY gasoline or diesel automobile. This was true 100 years ago, it's true today. The only difference from Tesla's time was the limitation of lead acid batteries, and the lack of microprocessors for...

Well, the warranty is 7yr/100,000 miles, and 14250miles/year is pretty modest for most of us. But this smugness has a price, to the tune of $64,000 presuming $10/battery. It's not economic.

TL : DR Electric cars kind of rock 12 ways till Tuesday. I'd have to crunch what it takes to make 6800 18650 batteries, but people with electric cars act smug for an objective reason.

Yes, but I'm pretty sure secondary cells are less recyclable than primary cells. They're not like lead acid that are virtually all recyclable. AFAIK NiMH are common in electric drive cars, except the Tesla which uses Panasonic 18650s. Here's Tesla's press pulp publication Based on this...

    National Geographic E-cigarette Article

True, but it takes energy to recycle anything, energy typically from coal. Batteries require 5-10x the energy to recycle over mining. The recovery rate of Li-ion technology isn't great, it's not like lead that you can smash em up, melt what sinks, and skim the top for copper. It's not...

    National Geographic E-cigarette Article

I would agree a filter and a cartomizer represent equal volumes of fill, however, I'd say I go though 1 a week rather than 20 in a day. So on that level I'd presume e-cigarettes are a net win. But batteries, you have a point. We consume roughly 16g (14500 specs) of li-ion batteries/year...

Cigarettes vs E-cigarettes: Which Is Less Environmentally Harmful?

I tried posting on the subject of "environmentalism". Bottom line is I don't know what is more economically friendly, the resources we put into on 14500 battery/year, and presuming coal power the ~1.4kg of coal used to charge 900mAh every day for a year, or a plant that sequesters carbon...
