    Obama signs anti-smoking bill

LOL Bush even bowed, and this photo was discovered by a right wing blog that the wingnuts attacked for pointing it out: Little Green Footballs - Bush Bowed Too And for the partisan hackery when discussing this bill, people need to look at the roll calls. The bill passed both chambers of...

Online poll; Did the Senate go to far......

Sure they have! Just look at those child proof caps that grandma or grandpa can't get off due to their arthritis, but a four year old can generally figure out. That's safety you can believe in! </sarcasm> @SmokinSandy: Your not the only one scared by a 100% democracy. California is the...

Historic anti-smoking vote to give FDA new power

Reading it looks like there is enough difference between both houses that the House will end up voting on final passage tomorrow. That is expected to pass with no problem.

Historic anti-smoking vote to give FDA new power

It goes to a conference of both houses (generally the senior committee members) to hash out any differences. Since there most likely isn't any big differences they will just send it on to the Prez to sign. If there are big changes then they hash those out and make them, then both houses vote again.

Republican senator seeks to outlaw tobacco

Well here's a new twist: TheHill.com - Republican senator seeks to outlaw tobacco Yeah because outlawing other things, like marijuana, has kept it off the streets

    NJOY Coming off shelves Tuesday

PureSmoker already is doing that, but just hardware. The liquid will be tougher as there are existing regulations that would have to be upheld here (product labeling, safety caps, etc.), but to me allowing liquid manufacturing here would be a winner. Tobacco farmers are already hurting from a...

    Video Reports On Tobacco Legislation

They only have two videos up so far, but they have a couple more marked as "coming soon": National Journal Online - Could The FDA Burn Tobacco?

UPDATE: US Senate Panel Approves FDA Tobacco-Regulation Measure

For only a certain time period (I think 14 days), then it becomes law in a defacto sense. He could always veto it though - now that would be sweet (but unlikely).

    debate started for kennedy bill

Good luck on that. Last I looked the bill had 50 co-sponsors in Senate. That means only needing 10 more to get cloture.

HR1676 - shipping untaxed tobacco to be a crime

There was a city in Ohio a few years back (may have been Akron) that passed a smoking ordinance. It was $150 fine for violating it, yet if you get caught smoking a joint it's only a $125 fine. The local DJs were having all kinds of fun with that one.

HR1676 - shipping untaxed tobacco to be a crime

This has been going on for year, it just looks like they are getting more serious. Back in 2001-2002, I used to order my analogs from Sweden. They basically had all the big brands found in the U.S. and a carton cost me less than $15 with shipping, so I would end up ordering 10 cartons at a time...

FDA reply from Public affairs specialist

I saw that thread (and the few others about the same thing) and was my point exactly. The FDA has said Cheerios is "making 'drug' claims" exactly like they are saying about E-Cigs. Yet Cheerios is still on the market and selling. They were given a moratorium and time to correct their labeling. I...

FDA reply from Public affairs specialist

The best place to follow the status of this bill is here: S. 982: Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act (GovTrack.us) That's where all the non-governmental sites that track this stuff pulls their data from.

Hmmm but Cheerios makes the same claim and they can still be sold? That seems rather curious. :sneaky:

"E-cigarette" firm claims pharma industry behind proposed ban

I would say its based in part on this: Association for the Treatment of Tobacco Use and Dependence Supports the FDA Ban of 'Electronic' Cigarettes The President of this organization just so happens to receive money honoraria money from Pfizer, who just so happens to make Chantix. Quiet a...

Hmm so the President of this board gets paid from Pfizer, who makes Chantix. No - not a single conflict of interest there.

The FDA Has Truly Gone Tyrannical

Anyone shocked by this? Just look back at recent history. For the past couple of years we have seen an unprecedented level of food recalls. People have been sick and dying, and that has left people screaming "where is the FDA". Now they are in damage control, and sadly that means going overboard...

    NJOY/Pilot truck stop update

I would suggest going with one of the other suppliers listed on the front of the forum. NJoy is only one brand out of quiet a few. I started with that and still have one for backup. I now use a DSE901 I ordered from myvaporstore.com a couple of weeks ago. I had the product in hand within 2...

"The FDA Is Working On Regulating It"

I wouldn't call the article "inaccurate" so much as just "incomplete". But I do wonder something. Did anyone with complaints about the article think to click the link at the top of the article to contact the author and maybe get the "inaccuracies" corrected? It would really help our cause to...

"The FDA Is Working On Regulating It"

Just saw a new article about E-Cigs and the last part really caught my eye: Despite the lack of tobacco, tar, and carcinogins, the product has not been tested by the FDA, and can't claim to be healthier than real cigarettes. However, the FDA is working on regulating it. I think that's...
