I quite agree Keeno, for the price, it serves my purposes well. I really don't need total stability at 6.0 volts. I'm just interested to see if the rumours are true. Unless they have changed to a new chip, there is not really any room for improvement.

I've been hearing that the new silver LavaTubes provide better regulation and/or more current. I don't have a new one myself, mine is one of the original black ones. Can anyone confirm or deny?
