    ethyl maltol

Okay, granted that I miss a lot of stuff, but why has ethyl maltol been ignored for several years? I decided to just order the crystals. Save the tuna and all that. (Well, save my Swedish gummy fish, at least.) So now I have crystals, no formula to actually use it, and decide to Google...

    Temperature Controlled wire

Temperature control has its ups and downs. Evolv has led the way into a new science. I am serious, here. This is not marketing bs. This really, really, is real. Kanthal and NiChrome have a coefficiency of temp to resistance that rules them out as a viable temperature controller coil material...

    Temperature Controlled wire

Okay, sorry, I am trying to cancel that last post. It was just a rumination. Can I just erase it? I guess not. I guess i will have to be gone for another few years. Oh, well. Love you guys, take care.

    Temperature Controlled wire

Titanium is less responsive than nickel. You can apply an offset, but you will be wrong most of the time. What you really want is a metal that works for vaping. Use the actual response curve, and not the Ronald McDonald hamburgerler zip top.

    Temperature Controlled wire

Hey, guys. Just an old, lame guy, here. The point is to get the maximum resistance spread over the temperature range of working atomizers. Nickel happens to meet that criteria better than titanium. The reason you want the highest resistance change to temperature, is to maximize the accuracy of...

First Time Building a DNA 25 and need some help

Agree with jblack 100%. Most of the worry of soldering is exposing electronic components to too much heat. The whole idea is to pre-tin any wires, pre-tin any board pads, and heat-sink anything that is sensitive to heat damage. With a 30 watt soldering iron (or preferably a temp controlled...

    sx350 box mod - questions

Nothing here, just like your avatar, JohnnyEars. Grin. Sorry, makkesk8, I would delete this post if I could. Didn't mean to interrupt your thread. I mistakenly thought I was in a general discussion part of the forum. But I like your build and your large fire button. Is it a click? I have been...

    Vape Mail On The Way!!

Don't have any insight to your order, but I am certainly stoked about your enthusiasm. Nice that you shared pics. I am awaiting a very much more conservative order, but my old 901 box mod now sucks and hope that my lame clearomizer kit order today will get me through until I can assemble a...

    The ABCs of batteries

don't know what happened to that last post, but i will try again... EDIT: of course, the original image now shows up.... whatever. Sorry about the double post. I just got diagnosed with emphysema, so I will be doing something else, and will give up both smokes and ecigs, take care my friends...

    The ABCs of batteries

Lithium technology is changing rapidly. It may not approach the rate of Moore's law, but it is exciting to watch it grow. There are so many new technologies that it would only confuse us to look at every single variety. We only have a handful of types that can actually be purchased at the...

    The ABCs of batteries

Coin cells (or button cells) aren't used in ecigs because they can't supply anywhere near the amps required. But modders usually have a plethora of testing/measuring equipment that do use them. Unfortunately, there is quite a variety of cell types, and a much larger array of common names. I...

    The ABCs of batteries

I used to be fairly familiar with Li-ions when I was dealing with them every day. I have been out of the picture for awhile now (MYO cigs), and I was stupid to think that I could come back here and talk about the newer types of batteries, knowingly. I hope my embarrassment gives pause to hotrod...

    The ABCs of batteries

You are absolutely right, duby. Thank you. I was only thinking of the charge rates, and forgot that rc123's are lithium 3 volters. I only hope that my advice didn't harm anyone. Over voltage is THE most dangerous condition for lithiums. I apologize, I apologize, I apologize. I will go back to...

    The ABCs of batteries

Oh, sorry about the multiple posts, here, but I need to clear up one point about the above chart. C means the normal charge/discharge rate. That is a totally nebulous value since different charge/discharge rates are totally fine. But 'C' usually refers to the amperage associated with the most...

    The ABCs of batteries

Oops, disclaimer needed. I am not a battery expert, and I just screwed up. This is a modders' forum and PLEASE take what I say (and for that matter, anyone here) with a grain of salt. We try to learn together, hopefully. I just noticed that I called what Scarlet was talking about a Li Po...
