scott, (I swear no sarcasm) thats what causes it? I always thought that lack of liquid was the reason for hot spots. i may have to try the rolling paper trick ive been using the drill bit method

xplumber, mine looks exactly like yours, i snugged it up so i had as little kanthal as possible between the post and the coil, still nothing, havent tried wrapping method, but doesnt really seem like a short to the wick...

so i have the wick down pat and im rolling coils like nobodys business (8 of them today, its been a slow day at work) but no matter what I try im getting a hot spot to the positive post. anyone have any suggestions? i have tried the u dent in the coil as well

soooo im pretty proud of myself, got the wick set up, ss mesh, kanthal coil. beautiful wraps, nice even coil, no hotspots... heres my issue... poor vapor. the coil is a perfect 3 ohms. running at 4.4 v (sweet spot) and seems to work well... but then i feel like its flooding and the vapor goes...
