"wait . .. :?: didn' you already have a door there?"

:blush:yes . . . but.

A bit frustrated today, and sorry. I thought I'd have the rest of the week clear to try and wrap up the mods; but, as fate would have it . .. . not.

Long↔long: They had decided to reuse the existing door jamb at the front entry. And, with a little time, and with attempts at doing a few more things with finalizing the dutch door, it became clear to us that that was a bad decision. So, another element of the punch list, and a doozy, is pulling the old jamb (trying to preserve all the work that went in around it) and fabbing up a new one. Today was the day that we could get his guy out here, and so he and I are trying to get this wrapped up today.

Older houses are always fun. When I did the tear out of our kitchen in the city for the remodel, the water supply lines where four inches from the base of the wall. (WTH?) Upon further inspection under the house, I found out why. We have two 12x16 floor joist's for the main support. Coveralls, a face shield, two 18 volt batteries for the cordless Dewalt, a 1 inch diameter electricians bit and a couple of hours on my back drilling the holes ( so the joist didn't overheat and catch fire) and I hand holes in place to run the new copper lines. Place was built in 1900 without blueprints.

At least you guys know what you're doing during a remodel like that! I had no clue! gutted out the kitchen and then started rebuilding everything, cabinets and all! That was 2 years ago but I'm almost finished. Other project were dropped in my lap during this time and most are almost complete!

When you have it all done and sit down for that first meal, you'll enjoy the satisfaction of knowing you did it all yourself.

My experience with a number of remodel projects is that you never really know what you're in for until you actually tear into them. Once you do, the scope of the project always increases. "Oh cripes, look at that. You know, while we're in here, we really oughta..."

I doubt the timing would work out but if you were driving north from there you will go right by me.

It would be pretty cool to meet the great GigaPUNCH Gig and the evil one in person.

We're getting together with Peter and family on Saturday if you're going to be around Chris.

Amen to that! My kitchen "project" started with replacing the cabinet doors and bloomed from there.

Good flight Gigs?

Yup, we got in about 35 minutes earlier than scheduled which worked out great for a bit more quality time with Peter and family [emoji3]

Fyi: he is tough to sneak up on so I had to settle for a hug [emoji6]

To dibi dabbers' bosses,

none of the dabbers can come to work Monday, I know it sounds sus', but trust me, they are really sick.
I'm way ahead of you Doffy. I gave my peeps Monday off as a additional paid holiday. Four day weekend FTW.
