What causes a loud electrical buzz sound combined with a bright red aura that encompasses the whole neighborhood? Still not sure but 3 power lines went down and there were sparks coming off the pole. :~

I kinda suspected you would have the answer. That's almost blow-for-blow how it happened. And it was loud too, also. The refrigerator is right on the other side of the wall from my head where I sleep in my house and I could swear it was coming from the fridge. Everything was fine, the power had come on for about 10 min. Or so and I had just got up to turn out a light and went back to bed when it went off and scared the everlovin peas&carrotts out the whole neighborhood. It was so bright it shined right through our opaque curtains and turned night into day. Had to do a walkabout to make sure it didn't burn the house down.
