(Reuters, int'l news on US regulations) http://www.reuters

The US OMB has finished reviewing FDA-proposed regulations on vaping. Much speculation in the article about the contents of the regulation. "Mitch Zeller, head of the FDA's tobacco division, said in an interview that there is a 'continuum of risk' among nicotine products currently on the market, with cigarettes on one end and medicinal nicotine on the other. He declined to say where on the spectrum he expects e-cigarettes to fall or what is contained in the FDA's proposals. In general, he said, people smoke for the nicotine and die from the tar." Some junk. More stories collected below, at end.

Lubbock Mayor says that Lubbock isn't going to emulate Frisco's extension of its clean air ord. to cover vaping, because "'I haven't had any facts put before me that shows the vapor harms anybody,' Robertson said. 'So I think at this point, until we have health officials bring us information saying here's the problem these are causing, I'm not one to go out and try to fix a problem that I really don't think exists yet.'" Vapers might want to take pre-emptive action, by contacting the Mayor and their City Council members.

Public library is going to ammend its smoke-free policy to explicitly include vaping. ND already has some of the toughest anti-vaping laws in the country, including a Clean Indoor Act. Tip: to see whether there are bad things happening where you live, try this Google search (example for Rhode Island) -
rhode site:casaa.org
(Replace rhode with a single word that describes your city, county, or state. For ex., if you live in Eau Claire, WI - you might use "Claire" to see if something is being proposed at the city level. Don't forget the : (colon), and be sure that there's nothing before or after the colon (not even spaces or tabs.)

You can also try replacing site:casaa.org with e-cigarette to find out what the media is reporting in your area. This is usually most helpful if you use the search tools to search by date. (CASAA doesn't generally issue calls or alerts until a bill is out of a state legislative committee, or is scheduled for a local city or county hearing.)

RE: (Dr. Rodu's blog) http://rodutobaccotruth.blogspot.com...ed-in-new.html
Dr. Rodu analyzes last month's NEJM THR study.

In late January the New England Journal of Medicine published a ringing endorsement of tobacco harm reduction (here). The authors of “Smoke, The Chief Killer – Strategies for Targeting Combustible Tobacco Use, are Michael Fiore and Timothy Baker from the University of Wisconsin, and Steven Schroeder from the University of California San Francisco. In the past, they strongly opposed the adoption of safer cigarette substitutes.

I note that one of the authors is from UCSF, and I wonder at the Slantzz's reaction to one of his colleagues endorsing THR...

Maybe some at the various institutions are getting tired of the lies coming out from the ANTZ?

It's their reputation also.

:pop::vapor:

They're probably starting to get worried that their emails between them and all the alphabet orgs will get hacked on put on public display.

It's happened before.

:pop::vapor:

I have said, in commenting on alot of negative articles, that the ANTZ fanatics have caused me to lose all respect for and confidence in their parent universities and organizations. Perhaps the said institutions are listening? Don't think UCSF would be at all happy to learn that Slantzz has made them a laughingstock.

They're probably starting to get worried that their emails between them and all the alphabet orgs will get hacked on put on public display.

I have read (and believe it to be fact) that a certain researcher whom I won't name *cough*S***zzz*cough* deleted some emails from his system in contravention of a court order that he submit them in pending litigation. Sorry I can't find the link....
