Hey guys, I have been building 2Ω coils with 32g Kanthal which work fine on my VV Grand. Last week I received some 28g Kanthal to try some low Ω builds, they hit amazing on fresh batteries but here's the problem - after a couple hours of vaping the quality and quantity degrade very fast. So I decided to do some testing, after about twenty minutes both batteries meter around 3.8v, an hour or so later one of them drains down to around 1.5v while the other battery remains okay. These are (4) AW IMR 18350 bought about a month ago from RTD, at first I thought it was faulty batteries but after a few days trying the 28g I'm suspecting it's an incompatibility with the build and mod.

Also taking a battery below 2.5V to 1.5V which is considered and over-discharge will shorten it's life dramatically. I try to never go below 3.5V

Thanks for the heads up, figured it couldn't be good for them.

Zod, you should be able to wring some serious performance out of that VVG with 29 or 30 ga and wrap yourself like a 14 wrap micro coil around a 1/16" bit.

I have some 29 ga dedicated to my VVG coils. It vapes amazing :)

Nice, thanks super X! I just ordered some 30 ga from TEMCo to try. I wrapped the 28 ga around a tiny screwdriver and the coil was getting pretty wide for my ERA clone which is why I was ending up with 1 ohm, I'll try something a bit thicker to get the resistance up until the 30 ga arrives, the 32 ga coils are a little unsatisfying after trying the battery killing combo. Any idea what resistance that 14 wrap coil ends up?

I've been real bad about checking resistance and I often lose count of wraps but if I remember correctly 14 wraps of 30 around a 1/16" will put you around 2 ohms.

You should really like the vape cause you can turn up the power to quickly heat that mass up and all that surface area makes some tasty vapor :)
