100% VG, 0 Nic = No smoke?

Hello, I've attempted to make a 0 nicotine mix with 100% VG and after steeping for 3 days I get good flavour, but NO TH and almost NO clouds of smoke at all. I was wondering if there was anything I could test before buying PG or distilled water to add to the mix.

That sounds like a hardware problem, not something to do with the liquid. VG produces more vapor than PG but imparts less throat hit. With zero nicotine, you'll get little to no throat hit.

What hardware are you using? What are the voltage/wattage and resistance numbers?

I don't think its a hardware problem because I use it with other mixes that work fine.
I use a VIP Photon tank, 1000mAh battery.

It is doubtful your going to get much TH with VG and no nic. Did you dilute the VG any with distilled water? Sometimes a teeny bit of water makes bigger clouds with VG.

Im not surprised by the TH, just the lack of smoke :/
No I didn't dilute it. My mix was just a tester consisting of 85% VG base and 15% flavour

Try adding a couple of drops of water and see if that improves the vapor. I have noted that some flavorings seem to cut the amount of vapor you get but that is fairly uncommon.

Adding 3 drops of water to the mix had a big impact on the smoke quantity! Why is that? Will PG have the same effect if I do a 50/50 base dilution?

Although, it seems to have diminished the flavour quite a bit, despite it being mixed at 15% flavour. Or would it require steeping again?

Steeping very much depends on the flavor and brand. How large a batch are we talking about and what sort of flavoring? I'm not sure PG will have that effect. But I am not sure it will not. It does not seem to me that PG adds to the volume of vapor in a 50/50 but I almost always have to add a couple of drops to the mix to account for the viscosity of the VG. Even in a 50/50 mix I end up adding a drop or two of water or it is too thick. It depends on the thickness of your VG and what delivery device your using.

Thank you so much for your advice. I'm only making a very small batch, approx 2ml, to test. The flavouring is The Perfumes Apprentice blueberry. I require around 12% in a nicotine mix and 3 days of steeping for it to really taste good. However, without nicotine but still 3 days steeping, the flavour doesnt seem quite accentuated, even at 15% (rather than 12%)

Do you add a drop of lemon juice per 5 ml to the final mix? That often helps with making a fruit pop. Your final mix will be 50/50 or 100VG? If your not going 100 vg with the final mix the flavor should be stronger because of the PG. I would wait to up the percentage on the blueberry and even consider adding a different fruit as an under note if you need more flavor. To high a percentage of TPA flavoring can get really ugly. I overshot with huckleberry and honeysuckle and have had to cut them over and over to get the percentage down.

Oh no I've never tried that, I will though! I have just bought some distilled water online and will probably buy PG and VG and experiment until I get a satisfying ratio

If you don't have PG sensitivities, I would recommend a 50/50 blend, especially for tanks. For me, I need a more liquid-y juice for my tanks/ cartos for them to flow through the material properly. I have tried doing 100% Vg several times, with several methods/tips and have had no luck. I know some people swear that VG and PG impact flavor the same but I can't make VG work by itself. I don't use Nicotine either, so that's not a factor

Next time go to the grocery and get the gallon of distilled water. It will be cheaper than shipping.

You aren't gonna get good TH from 0 Nic. Any TH you'll get will be from the flavors and it'll be scratchy (if you like that). As for no vapor, you either have a mechanical problem or your wick is too saturated with the thick VG that it can't break through. Try to up your Voltage and see if that's it.

For throat hit there are several additives available, I use Diablo Loco (1 drop in a 30ml bottle is enough-it's powerfull sheeatt)
And if you have an 'Auto store' in town you can buy bottles of de ionised water-thats what I use

Glad to see people using flavors w/o nicotine, So you just fill your bottle most way up with VG then add a few drops of your flavor?

I use the e-juice calculator for my no nic juice - just don't include nic as an ingredient.
I like to use no nic for my bakery flavours when I'm busy and randomly vaping out of habit, like driving or watching movies
or reading a book. It's like having a little nibble of something, and having a smoke all at the same time.

Save my nic juice for when I am consciously vaping.
