Ok guys here's a real head scratcher for you, i have ten 10440 batteries, only been used for about a month, not constantly, and i rotate them.

they all hold a full charge, 4.2v on the meter, but only one of them provides a constant vape, the other nine fire the atty but then you can hear the popping and fizzling fade away to nothing after about 3 seconds, when put back on the meter they are still reading 4.2v.

It is not the device as one battery works perfectly, could all 9 batteries have gone bad at once? i have had them about a month but as i mentioned before they have only had pretty light use.

Has anybody else had this problem? i'm thinking i will just have to throw them away and get some more but just wanted to throw this one out there in case anybody has had a similar experience

Have you tried testing the actual voltage at the atty connection when the device button is pressed to see if the entire current is coming through properly?

Thats the weird thing Lisa, they all show 4.1v unloaded, it isnt the atty as it works fine on one 10440 and fine on all my 14500's, i get one vape then nothing, it can only be faulty batts now, it just amazed me all 9 went at once.

If it wasn't for bad luck i would have no luck at all :lol:

I had same problem here womble with 4 10440 and 2 cr123A. Its a common problem. Battery shows the right voltage but it doesnt work. They are faulty units.

did you check the amps? and if your reading 4.1 under load on the atties while on something isn't right. You should be reading 3.4 -3.8. atties are also resisters.

It was 4.1v unloaded (without atty) grimmer, and i'm lazy and can't be bothered to put together a rig to test loaded :) just one of the risks with cheap batteries i suppose, any suggestions on reliable consistent 10440's? the ones i had were the blue Trustfire 600 mAh (laughable) ones

i had this problem with the trustfires too. i now think it may have todo with charging them.

do you use a standard cigar batteries charger or one of the grey trustfire multichargers ?

because those charge with up to 500mAh. which would be fine if those batteries actually deliver 600mAh like stated on them. but we all know that this is not the case.

so, imo the 320mAh batteries take harm charging them in those multichargers everytime.

or they are just most of the time bad batteries. ;)

 laughable trustfires...... yea I cant stand 10440 batteries there one of the most unreliable batteries next to cr2's ( from what I hear) but then again I hear some really good things about cr2's...:confused::confused:

For all 9 batteries to be faulty is just crazy. I can see 3 out of 10 but 9 out of 10? lol it could be as bad as one time i went to go get a new car battery.... and the guy replaced it. about 2 days later the battery was completly dead. So I went back switched out and again the same thing happend.... come to find out it was my Alternator. So I fixed that and had no problems since...my point is it could be a few other options...

My only guess is to do a few steps with your slim... take off the button and look at the center pole to see if there is any black...or skip that step all together and just go ahead and sand it. Now take off the attie cap and look at both sides of the center pole or just go ahead give them both a little sanding. Another thing clean any black on the threads. Also if you use any adapters try cleaning them out as well.

With that battery being so small there might not be any contact or lack there of. :)

I use the Trustfire TR-001 multicharger Kelemvor, it does state it safely charges 10440 on the back but its an interesting point you make, have you had no problems since using a lower output charger on these? and if so which charger do you now use on the 10440's?

Yeah i hear ya on the quality of these things grimm, all the steps you mentioned i did, but they are great advice for others having problems, but one of them still works great so it isnt the device itself.

anyway i have 9 little lollypop stick crosses made so i'm having me a mass burial today ;)

I had the same problem with the 10440 battery tested correctly under voltage got 1 or 2 vapes then nothing. Had 1 good one so used that till my order for more came in. I wish they made these with more mah because they last me about an hour to a hour and 1/2. I also wished they made them protected.

Don't think unprotected is a problem unless you use them in series:)

If it was a short cirquit then the spring would have shrinked Grimmer. If womble had a short, then he had to check the atomizer only. But if atomizer worked good for some inhales then its not the atomizer , its the battery.
The only reason that every GG can make a short is only from a faulty atomizer. You cant short the GG in any way.
If you have a clean button problem then you would have misfires only, not shorted batteries.

The conclusion is that Womble had a bad batch. I cant see anything else here.:):)

Yes that's correct, the device itself is fine, just a bad batch of batteries, i just started this thread because 9 went bad at once, but i do have one that's working great :D, thanks to everybody for their input, it's really appreciated :thumb:
