hia im 12 days in and been having worst cravings ever today, i thought by now i would at least be getting used to not smoking proper fags!! Im using blu e cig capsules but am thinking of getting one i can top up with nicotine liquid. There doesnt seem to be much vapour coming from this blu e cig!! anyone know what works best for them? I also am using 18mg nicotine capsules and i dont think im ready to lower nicotine yet as i still feel aniouxs and extremly bad tempered especially in morning , as i dont get the same nicotine hit from a real ... and am sucking the life out of the blu pen thing! how long do people stay on same nicotine liquid strengh and by doing it slowly am i less likely to succeed? To be far i found it easier the first few days as i was over coming yet another chest infection hence for giving up! fed up of killing myself , steroids and not being able to breathe!!!But do feel cravings of having proper ... quite badly, so far i havent given in and i know how disapointed i would be if i did.. it doesnt help that my nextdoor neighbour and best friend who i see every day smokes and having to sit next to her with her smoking fags and me sucking the e cig is grating on me, not that im going to tell her... because for years i was smoking with her. do you find if difficult with friends who still smoke ? its not like i would avoid her as she is my closest friend.. ive even tried to get her to vipe lol but shes not having any of it!! anyone have similar experiance? would be greatfull for any advice xx

Yes Elaine it does go away. My first two weeks were my worst time but I pushed through them. The next month was better, the next two months were better yet. I find I don't even think about cigarettes now. I used 18mg juice for the first two to three months then decreased to 12mg and I am still there. Will go to 10mg on my first year vapeaversary. Good luck it gets better, much better.

Hi @elaine17 . Yes the desire for a cig does pass. It takes time, you just have to keep the right mindset that you vape and not smoke. I'm 8 months quit and at times I'll tell myself I want a cig (30 years trained habit) but my next thing is looking for my vape. I might even reach to my pocket, but I still grab the vape with no desire for the cig, I really enjoy my vape.

I tried the cig a like e cigs and still have a drawer full of them. They didn't satisfy my desire to quit the cigs but they do work for some people. Even when I was quitting with an inexpensive pen style vape I kept a tank full of the next higher nic handy for those times the urge couldn't get scratched. I usually had to hit it first thing in the morning, then went to my regular vape for the rest of the day. It would take me a week or so to get used to the lower nic then I was fine.

You'll make it. If it's not easy, or when you have times the craving is difficult, just remember that those times are the reason you are quitting, so they never happen again. You can DO It.

It took more than 12 days for the cravings to diminish for me and I had better equipment than you have.

Unfortunately the Blu cig-alikes aren't very good. It may be time to buy a proper kit that will give you a better experience. Even an Ego battery with a CE4 is better than what you have. A variable voltage EGo style would be better yet. A couple to look for are Vision Spinner or Kanger Evod with variable voltage.

I would suggest an iStick 30w or an iStick TC 40w with a Nautilus mini clearomizer. It's a bit more expensive up front but will save money in the long run.

I see you're in Wales. Someone from the UK will probably chime in with more info.

Congratulations on quitting regular cigarettes! It was very hard for me too, until I upped the level of nicotine in my e juice. The guy who owned the vape shop I frequented, told me if you're having a hard time transitioning from regular or analog cigarettes to vaping the most likely reason is because you're e liquid doesn't have enough nicotine in it. I was vaping 12 mg. nicotine and I loved vaping, but I still wanted to smoke analogs and when vaping I drew on it so hard I felt I would collapse a lung. He recommended I go up to 16 mg. nicotine and I immediately noticed a huge improvement, but it still wasn't quite enough nic. I started vaping 18 mg. nicotine and I haven't had an analog cigarette since, nor have I really even wanted one. It is wonderful!! Up your nicotine content and let me know how you're doing. Good luck!

Hang in there! Congrats on your progress so far! I do believe its different for everyone.
I can only share my observations here for a few years, my own experience was directly related to nicotine mg.
ONce I got the quality of "vape" in flavor and Nicotine, the cravings were instantly satisfied!
It did take going through multiple set ups (rigs) and a few flavors/strengths) of e-liquid. For me, once I found it, I knew it! That very same day, I was able to permanently throw out everything tobacco related,a super house cleaning.
Ive met other ex smokers who claim to this day they still once in a while get monstrous craving for a cig!
I maxed out the research through here. I then found out how many mg nic. I'd been inhaling through tobacco and went above that for the first month of vape only? before I comfortably tapered down and began the new hobby of flavour chasing.
the 2 most important criteria I've seen are 1)make sure you're covered 24/7 with reliable gear/batteries/Pvs, so everytime you have a craving you also have something to satiate it.
2) know the craving will be gone in no more than 10 minutes. (If you've got will power). Its OK to "slide"_ dont beat your self up. figure out why you slid, and be ready for the next time. You may need to tweak something, somewhere. Come here, find out what "fits" you the best, and keep asking for our support- without ECF I would still be smoking!! IM someone that'd tried everything for decades of attempted quitting.

All the best to you, thanks for reaching out!

A good relationship with a vendor is also very helpful to many vapers at first. I cant thank the ppl I met along the way enough.

I totally agree! I was so grateful for all of the help. Everyone in every vape shop I visited early on in my vaping experience were incredibly generous and helpful to me. Don't be afraid to ask for help either here or in a vape shop near you.

As I always say, Blu blows :sneaky:
I remember when I started stress was a trigger. I would give in and run for a pack. Slowly but surely I realized, I don't need these anymore. I'm just wasting my money. I stayed with it, now I can't remember the last time I craved a cigarette. You do need to upgrade your vape. That and sticking it out. You'll be alright!

Have you had a good experience with the iStick 30 or iStick 20? I have an Athena Smart 20 and I absolutely love it! I am planning to get another one as a back up, and then I'll have four vaping devices. It really helps to have a few options since I seem to forget to charge them as often as I should.

Go ahead and smoke a cigarette if you feel the need. But -- and this is a very big BUT; chain vape for a few minutes before you light up. You may find the need for a cigarette goes away, maybe not. If not, go ahead and smoke.

Pavlov found that if you ring a bell then feed a dog, that soon the dog would start salivating when the bell was rung, even before it saw and tasted the food. He also found that the same dog would salivate if you rang the bell and didn't feed it. But and this is a big but, over time the dog would stop salivating to the sound of the bell unaccompanied by food.

If your system is already loaded with nicotine before you smoke a cigarette, you will loose the pleasant association between cigarettes and nicotine. Can't guarantee this will work for you, but it did for me.

In my opinion 18mg of nicotine is a little low for a heavy smoker. Ditch the blues and get an ego starter kit. Visit a brick and mortar place that lets you sample flavors. Get some 24mg juice and enjoy. Make sure you always have at least two vaping devices around preferably three. Although I find disposables a horrible alternative I keep one in my car one in my pocket and one in reserve in case of emergency.

I've vaped 24mg for three years. Tried to go down to 12mg but found at that level I was vaping continuously.

As has already been said, get a better setup and up your nic level. The blue ecig probably isn't going to help you. I like the Nautilus Mini tank.
I may be an exception, but I quit smoking using Chantix and vaping at the same time. After 3 days, analogs tasted nasty and I went from 2 packs a day to 0 cigs. As long as I have the vape, I have no cravings, even when sitting next to someone smoking (I try to sit upwind so the smoke doesn't choke me).

Welcome. I agree with a lot of the posters here. I started with a cigalike. A shop opened near me the next month and i bought an ego battery and a tank. Get an ego or an eleaf istick. When i started I wanted something smaller so an ego battery was just right. Get a tank, even an evod tank. This worked for me for two years. Recently, I switched to an eleaf istick type of battery (avp) and a nautilus mini tank. I noticed after vaping for a month or so I didn't like the taste of cigarettes at all.
Best wishes on your journey.

First post ... in 4 years.

The cravings go away if you have the correct setup and proper nic levels as people have suggested. I started vaping 5 years ago and fell off the wagon when I turned 30 last May, smoked 2 packs a day for 3 months straight after that and was able to go right back to the ecig when I realized how much it was costing me to smoke ciggs.

It may seem like a large cost to upgrade from that junk you buy at the gas station (blue ecig or whatever they are) but consider what you purchase is rechargeable and will last for at least six months, assuming it is an ego twist or something of that sort. Ego products may last longer but in my experience the 510 connections were garbage and fell apart/stripped. My Hanna box mod has lasted me 2.5 years now but cost ~180USD when I got it, still nothing compared to smoking. Not suggesting you run out and spend that much, there are far cheaper alternatives that will last, it is just an example. As for the cost of juice, make your own if you are up to it. It is much easier than people sometimes claim it to be, WAY cheaper than buying juice, safe if you use low level nic or proper protection, and it makes you feel good when you make a bomb ... juice all your friends want you to make it for them.

Long story short, the cravings will go away. Just up the nic level. When I initially quit ciggs for ecig I started at 28mg or so. I was able to drop ciggs in 2 days and taper down drastically. I vape 4mg now, even after the summer smoking stint I am a 4mg and happy.

Good luck! It is worth it trust me! ...my dentist was not pleased to see I started smoking again over the summer hahaha

You need to go to a higher Nic try 24 mg, 18s obviously not working if you're cravings are that bad.
