I went with a 16 nicotine, told me that was between a light/full flavor strength
Voltage is all the way up
What is an rda?

Forget the RDA for now, you're just beginning your journey and dripping is for the more experienced, IMHO. The VV3 is a great battery, one of my favorites. Your B & M got you on the right path with a good setup. You might want to bump up to a higher nic juice tho. As you continue your journey, you can drop the nic but get some 24 to start with. That will deliver the throat hit. Just remember to drink lots of water and back off of coffee and sodas a bit. vaping dehydates you. You need to stay hydrated above all else.

I have a few iClear 16 tanks and none of them give me the flavor/vapor/throat hit that I enjoy. I love the Aspire BDC and the iClear 30 *original* for most of my vapor needs. The vv3 is a great little battery, it is my back up and I love it.
I agree with the folk who say more pg for the throat hit and who are also telling you to stay hydrated. That is super important. Good luck your your journey to better health!

Thanks again everyone for the awesome info. The MORNING cigarette with the coffee was the one that I was dreading the most.... Powered through like a champ! :toast: Going to ask my local guy about other options, as this one is great, easy to carry, not very invasive in a public setting. Maybe start experimenting with something a little bigger and better for around the house. But seriously, seems like an amazing community around here. Just to be able to read about people being without a cig since they've started vaping is a major moral booster mid day while setting in front of the damned computer with the co-workers walking by to go smoke.

You found the right place. I've been on here every day since my quit, sometimes a few hours a day. Soaking it all in, reading all the amazing support messages and trying to encourage others, which in turn strengthens me. It's a great community, for sure, one of the best I've found on the 'net. Those cravings will still hit you, but puff puff puff that vaporizer and you'll do just fine!

Sounds like you've got the bug all ready! Once I figured out it worked, I was hooked too! Good luck with the rest of your quit and feel free to drop in anytime!

Welcome, Nate. You've come to the right place, and sounds like you've already gotten some good advice. Higher nicotine worked for me, at least to start. You can always drop down to a lower level. If you haven't tried any flavored juices, keep an open mind. Lots of new folks think they want a "tobacco" flavor to replace their cigarettes. I found I did not like the ones I got, and loved a couple called Cinnamon Roll and Banana Nut Bread.

Vaping has a lot of the components of smoking, which is why I think it works so well. Hand to mouth, inhaling, blowing out vapor, etc. But it is not smoking and takes a little while to get used to.

By the way, I live in Oklahoma City, and have visited Woodward a time or two. My hubby has been in the oil business all our lives, so I know about most of the towns in Oklahoma. Hello, Okie!:)

PS - 12 hours is super! I'm rooting for you. And Cinnamon Roll juice is a very nice wake up with coffee.

I bought the itaste mvp, with the iclear 30B. Tasting like the wicks are burning up pretty fast, haven't had it but for about a week, replaced one, and the second is already tasting a little burnt... any suggestions or known problems with this tank?
Volts are at 4.2
Watts are at 10
I think the new (guts?) I got are a 1.8ohm ...
Sorry, don't remember the terminology.

Welcome! And I hope that you are 12 days in at this point. All good advice (from what I skimmed through).

I think the advice to not necessarily look for a tobacco flavor to replace the smoke (tobacco flavors are closer to unburned tobacco, anyway, think: smelling a bag or a pack), but to find a flavor that wows you.

Consider gums, candies or desserts you like.. or coffee.. I got started with coffee and bakery flavors. I decided that if I was going to drop smoking for vaping, that I wanted vaping to be its own experience, and not mimic what I was doing. It was a great decision. I was a 30+ year smoker, and I am now a little over 4 months into vaping without looking back.

Heck, I tried a smoke the other day, just to see... it was HORRIBLE. I had to brush my teeth twice!

Keep it up. We are here as a community if you ever need us.

Voltage and wattage on that device are independent functions. When you 'check' or adjust the Voltage, the device goes into 'Voltage mode' and will fire at the voltage that it is set to. If you then go in and tinker with the Wattage, it will go into Wattage mode, and the setting in Voltage Mode is inconsequential.

For me, I prefer Wattage mode. When you set it at, say 8w (great starting place), it will automatically adjust the voltage according to the resistance of your head (coil), and net you the same experience each time. Technically, you are always vaping at a given wattage... as Ohms law applies, and you are passing a voltage across a load, resulting in power.

SO, I recommend only using wattage mode, starting at 8 and adjusting to your taste.

Stick with the tanks you have (iClear) or try other tanks and such before jumping into rebuildables. People will recommend them, and once you get the hang of what's going on overall, you might want to make a hobby of it, but starting out, it's so much more straight forward to play with pre-built stuff.

Your 1.8ohm head may also be off by +/- .2 ohms. The device you have will read the resistance for you. Check it when putting a new one on, just to get a sense of what the variations mean to performance.

I use Iclear16 & 30 on my MVP2 and vv3. I use it in wattage (Power mode) only. I'm usually between 7-8.5 watts depending on the liquid I'm using and while I don't pay attention to the puff counter I throw my MVP on the charger every 2-3 days. I rotate 5-6 different Iclears and my wicks last quite awhile

This works for me but YMMV ( Your methods may vary)

Oh and congrats!!! Every cigarette dodged is a win!!!

Hello Nate, and indeed congratulations. I have been vaping since last June or so after decades of smoking Marlboro, Camel, Winston. I have two pieces of advice that worked for me.

1) Vaping is not smoking, and will never satisfy in the same way. Deal with it. After a few weeks of vaping, I found that cigarettes were not as good as I remembered. And then you stop coughing, the rattle in your lungs goes away, and you start to feel much better. And save a ton of money. And, you don't stink. And, my wife lets me vape in the house, including the bedroom. And her car. Vaping is different.

2) Get the right juice. I buy 36mg max nicotine at 50/50 from Best E Cigarette | Buy Electronic Cigarettes | E Cig Juice - MT Baker Vapor. Likely to drop the nicotine level on the next order, but staying off of cigarettes is priority #1. I buy Menthol, Extreme Ice, and strawberry blends such as Spring Break and America. Choose light colored juice as it is much less likely to clog your tank and give burnt hits. Do not look for tobacco flavors. I find they smell like cat pee with a hint of ex-wife. See #1, vaping is not smoking, so do not look for the same flavor.

3) I said two, but here is a freebie. I have the iclear 30B, and I disliked it. Currently using an iClear 30S and mostly happy. A modest investment for you. Coils last a long time - maybe 10 days on the 1st one, clean hits down to the bottom of the tank, and good enough flavor. Roll and tumble the gear from time to time to make sure everything is saturated with juice.

After you have settled into being a vaper rather than a smoker, you can start looking at more expensive/complicated stuff. With all the money you save, Provari, Semovar, Kayfun and the like start to make sense. But for now, an MVP with a proper topper should work fine.

I wish you Happy Vaping!! I am almost at the one month mark, and I have the same device as you. Yes, it can deliver a great throat hit. Look into other juices - Mt. Baker Vapor is a shop many of us love. You can specify nicotine levels and blends of the two main ingredients in the juice, which definitely affects how it will feel. They have some great flavors, too, and always include a sample to try.
Best of luck to you.

Welcome. It gets easier. I quit smoking three weeks ago. I have been vaping for awhile now. I went large w a provari before I quit bc I knew I planned on using vaping to kick a over twenty yr habit. I haven't been dissatisfied n have enjoyed growing in to my device. I already feel better n definitely smell better. Congrats. you have come to the right place.

Hey congrats on the quit!

If you want more throat hit, turn your wattage up a bit, and get some juice with stronger nicotine level. Check out mount baker's usa blend tobacco. Not the America blend...USA blend. Get it with 18 or 24 mg nicotine and a 80/20 PG/VG ratio.

Any time you feel that craving, take a pull off that 24mg USA right away.
