Sorry this is so long, but IMO, many who try vaping and have problems and/or give up...do so because of frustration with commercial eliquids. Based on my experiences with several "newbies" to vaping, they can really tell a difference between commercial eliquids and DIY eliquids. Sometimes, it's because with DIY, the perfect nic mg for them...can be dialed-in. Other times they've liked the taste of DIY better. There are 4 people I've helped to switch to vaping, and/or are in the process of switching over...that I make DIY eliquid for now.

1 is a neighbor I introduced to vaping, set up with a couple kits, and made all his eliquids for the first year. Then he started working parttime in a vape shop. He gets (1) free 120ml bottle of his choice every week. But he still has me regularly make my DIY NannerBerry, Hawaiian Delights, and Tropical Flamingo for him. He says the shop makes a NannerBerry, but he doesn't like it...likes mine much better. They don't even sell anything like the other 2 he said.

2nd person is my hairdresser. I set her up with a starter kit, and she tried a whole bunch of vape shop eliquids, but didn't like them at all. She was ready to give up on vaping. So I had her try my Caramel Latte and some Cinnamon Roll 1 day, and she said, "These are great! Don't need to try any others." I've been making 200mL for her about every 5 weeks since then.

3rd person is my niece. She recently started dual using after smoking 1-1.5PAD for 25+ years, and is looking toward totally switching soon. She's the only person I'll make a tobacco eliquid for, since I don't like the smell of the flavoring nor the eliquid. She really likes the super simple TFA Western @ 8% with just 3mg nic. Said just 2 nights ago that she went to town shopping for several hours and didn't even take her smokes with her. She's excited about vaping!

What I didn't know until recently, was that she'd tried vaping, 2 years ago. A vape shop owner in her town had sold her a starter kit and a 30mL bottle of 24mg eliquid. It caused her to have slight hand shakiness and anxiousness. So less than 24hrs. later she went back and asked if he could possibly make the nic lower for her. He told her nope...sorry, since you smoked as much as you did for so long...24mg is what you need. She figured since she couldn't handle the 24mg, she'd just quit trying to vape. I knew none of that, while I'd offered to help her try vaping many times in the last 2 years. She finally told me her story and agreed to let me make some DIY for her, that wouldn't cause her any physical problems, yet could ease the ciggy cravings. She looked at me like I was crazy, and asked, "You mean it's possible to make eliquid like that?"
Right then I really wanted to call and give that vape shop owner a piece of my mind. ;)

4th person is "Pops", a sort of "neighborhood grandpa" who smoked for 40+ years. He'd tried vaping several years ago, and had bought at least 2 dozen different 10-15mL bottles from local vape shops. But he never found any he really liked, so he gave up and went back to smoking. We talked about what he would like flavoring-wise and the nic mg that might work for him. Based on that, I made him a bottle of Peppermint, using only 3 drops of TFA Peppermint per 30mL bottle, at 12mg nic. He loved it and started vaping regularly. He recently moved away, and when he left he was still vaping, and said he'd be in touch for more. :)
