So I scored tonight! (that sounds wrong :p)
I went to WalMart for some odds and ends, and checkout was swamped, so I walked around browsing. Back in the electronics section they had a clearance table out, and on it was a Nintendo Ds case.... When I saw it I knew it would make a perfect mod travel case........

Front section holds three mods comfortably, could squeeze in a fourth if needed

The back had slots that only needed minor modifications to make them perfect battery and atty holders..... And the flap side has a zippered pouch to hold juices

Now my old case has been turned into my cloud chaser kit..... It has my variant, batteries, spare RDA and dripper juice :p

Sent with one hand, the other is busy vaping.

disrupter winners - how long til they shipped? Just wondering 'cuz I learned I won on Monday and still haven't gotten any kind of shipping notice and I'm not sure whether to ask or give it some more time (don't want to be a nag or a whiner lol) - I don't have shanaynay now, but I do have to watch my mail cuz it could go to a neighbor.
Mine took exactly 2 weeks from winning to delivery. I never got notice it was shipped, either, so it was a complete surprise when it arrived! :)

Very cool! I bought a game case that is shaped like a purse (for the Nintendo DS) that I carry my glasses in. It works perfectly for 2 pair! Nintendo rocks. :)

See, that's what I mean......schools without art and music fail the child. Back in my day, kids could read and write when they graduated. Now? What an epic failure to see kids roaming the mall who cannot even carry on a conversation without looking lost ( yes, I was in retail and thoroughly disgusted when people couldn't even count back change unless they have a picture on the screen).
Public schools are horrible. I feel so badly for parents who cannot home school or afford private school. I do hear of the rare teacher who tries to do the right thing, but the odds are so stacked against them, it's sad.

My grandchildren go to public school in a small town. It's not as bad as the big towns, because there are a few teachers that try. But it's still not good. My daughter spends time every night teaching them what they should be learning in school, and even UNteaching some of the crap they're being taught.

Counting change? LOL I go out of my way to thank clerks who count change back "the old fashioned way" - rarer and rarer these days.

Went thru a drive thru not long ago - the girl says 6.15, so I hand her 20.15. She gives me back 13.99. I said "WHAT? I gave you 20.15!!" She looks confused and says "the total was 6.16". I asked "Why didn't you repeat the total when you saw I gave you 15 cents? I would have given you another penny. Why would I give you 15 cents unless I was trying to avoid getting back change?" She was lost.

Oh no!! That's what I'm worried about - I don't care how long it takes them to ship it, but I need to watch it or it might get delivered to the wrong house and I wouldn't know! Some of my neighbors would bring it over. Others? I dunno.

Oh, I think I've told this story at least a dozen times, but this will be the first time you hear this.

About 8 years ago, I went to Best Buy because I needed to pick up an accessory for my smartphone. Grabbed my accessory, and then saw a promo card/sticker on the rack that said that all cell phone accessories was 10 percent off for one item, 20 percent off for two. So I shopped around and found a second item that I could use (notwithstanding the fact that even with the 20 percent off, buying both items would be more expensive than just buying the one item I needed). Proceeded to the register to pay. The cashier rang it up and no discount showed, so I called it to her attention. She then asked the yellow shirted guys (manager?) and he went over to the mobile department and came back with the card showing the discount. The cashier manually entered the discount and told me the total. I pointed out to her that she made a mistake because she only gave me 10 percent off instead of the 20 percent. She insisted that it was correct and that I was getting 20 percent off. Because she gave me 10 percent off the first item and 10 percent off the second item, she insisted that the total discount was the sum of the two, 20 percent. This took me aback for a couple of seconds and then I asked for the manager. Explained what happened, and what we are disputing, and it seemed for a second that he got confused and couldn't understand what was going on. Finally, he seemed to understand and told the cashier to give me 20 percent off of each item.

And I can't even count how many times I've gone to cashiers and when it is time to pay, I give them the bills and while I'm fishing out the exact change, they ring up just the bills and then end up getting confused when they have to compute the change in their head.

Many moons ago when I first worked in retail, the registers didn't calculate change. In fact the first register I used wasn't even electric (had rows of keys and a handle to pull - I would love to find one of these now!)

Years later, I went to work at a convenience store, and even though the register would compute change, the owner forbid it. I thought he was awesome! I recently visited this store, and they STILL count change back the old fashioned way!

That store owner is a rarity these days. He believes in a strong work ethic and compensates accordingly, which is so rare. Most people who worked there complained about how strict he was - no breaks, no sitting down, so much cleaning to be done. It was by far the cleanest convenience store in town, and the pay was well above other convenience stores, which was why I didn't mind working so hard. I thought it was fair - he demanded more, but paid more for it. Others just wanted to get paid well to sit on their butts.

The NY Post is a conservative-leaning newspaper in NY (owned by Rupert Murdoch). They have been going on a crusade against Bill DeBlasio, the liberal, progressive mayor of NY and how he is ruining the city, especially the education system.

Elected with the support of the highly influential teacher's union, he has essentially kowtowed to the union and given them everything they want. He has gone on a crusade against charter schools, which are non-union, focusing on how they are financially supported by rich, white people, while ignoring the fact that almost all charter schools are catering to predominantly low income black and hispanic students and that the passing rate for charter schools on state standardized exams are over 95 percent, while the passing rate for public schools on the same state standardized exams are below 40 percent.

These are just the latest scandals that the newspaper had reported on in the past month about how the school system are trying to increase their graduation numbers:

1. Several NYC public high schools have been allowing students to make up failed classes by using online learning. While state education regulations allows students to make up one or two failed classes per year, some schools were allowing students to make up every failed class. And under state regs, the online learning is supposed to be completed in the presence of a teacher. The students were allowed to complete the work from home, and many students had said that they simply looked up the answers to the test questions online. The classes also allowed the students to make up a year's worth of education in just a matter of days.

2. Several NYC public schools was also revealed to have passed students when they failed just to make sure that they reached graduation quotas. One student revealed that she never showed up for a national government class she needed for graduation half of the time, didn't do the homework, was failing the class throughout the year, and never showed up for the final. When she contacted her student advisor about arranging the make up the class during summer school, she was told that she didn't need to go to summer school because she passed the class and got a 65. When the newspaper tracked the teacher down, she admitted that all the teachers were under great pressure by the school administration to meet certain graduation quotas. They were told that if the student had passed the state Regents exams (a state-issued annual exam), then the student should be given passing grades regardless of their actual grade in their classes.

3. It was also revealed that several schools had changed failing Regents exams grades to passing grades. While challenging grades and reviewing exams for additional points are common, the review is supposed to be done by state exam officials. In these schools, the teachers themselves were told to review and regrade the exams. At one school, the principal of the school was accused of changing the exam answers for some of the students before the exams were even graded. Before any investigation could be done, the principal committed suicide.

There is this guy who own a high tech firm. He announced to much fanfare a few months ago that he was going to raise the minimum salary at his company to $70,000 a year so that every employee would be paid a living wage. The fallout from all this is now many of his best employees are quitting. Because while he has raised the salaries of the lowest paid employees, he did not raise the salaries of his best employees accordingly. So the high performers in the company, who was already paid well, are now seeing the slackers who just show up and put in the minimum required getting large raises and are being paid almost the same as them while they are killing themselves.

I am not sure how I feel about this. On one hand it does seem unfair to the ones with seniority but I tend to think I would be happy for those that got the raise. I think most people that are hard workers are that way instinctively and don't always look at the work/reward as a basis for their hard work. If this was true we would see nobody wanting to work in labor intensive/ lower paying jobs. Some companies have the biggest slackers in the highest position because they are family. BTW, no I am not for the "trophies for all" sentiment, but business has always been pretty lopsided when it comes to work/reward. When I was a chef, I found out a gal I had just interviewed to help me out started at $2 more an hour then I made yet I was still considered above her in position for that kitchen. I remember talking it out with my husband and at first feeling a bit slighted but he pointed out that the owner probably saw that she had three children to support and made an offer that was suited to her. He also pointed out to me that I always have the power to renegotiate my rate of pay if I felt I should. I thought about it then decided before I knew her rate I was completely satisfied with mine so why should what she gets effect how I do my work. I have always believed that ones rate of pay should be a private issue for reasons like this.

Ooooo look at me at one year in !!!! :w00t: Time to celebrate!

I have mixed feelings about this. I understand that ability, work ethics, etc. are not the only criteria for pay rate. But when nobody knows what anyone else is getting paid, it's hard to know if the company is cheating you.

Working for one convenience store (not the wonderful one I mentioned above), we hired a guy part-time. He owned a failing business and needed the extra income. I was the assistant mgr at the time and he was a part-time clerk.

He came in the store to cash his check, and it didn't take 2 seconds of figuring in my head to realize his hourly rate was significantly higher than mine! I complained to the supervisor, who told me "Well, he's a man. He has a family to support so he needs more money!" And this was a WOMAN who told me this.

I called the corporate office to complain, and the company owner visited me at the store the next day. He apologized profusely, and gave me a retroactive raise back to the day the part-time clerk was hired. I left it at that, but I know he did that to prevent a sexual discrimination lawsuit. I think I could have won such a case.

I raised my daughter mostly by myself, with only occasional financial help from elsewhere (I was on welfare for about 3 months once.) But that fact should be irrelevant - I should be paid according to the work I do - better work, better pay. Period. It irks me to no end all of the times I worked at companies who paid men better than women who were doing the same work, sometimes even doing it better or taking on even more responsibilities.

EDIT : abbreviation for assistant triggered the cuss-filter!!

Exactly to both of you!

I am just not sure why so many seem to not understand how it works.

Because too many people have tried to explain it, and each time there's a slight variation.

I agree :) I do not understand how people can complain and whine about a "giveaway". I am always so happy to just get a chance to win. Sometimes I feel bad for the vendors that have to put up with people whining about the entry rules or other stuff. Of course there are contests that I do not take part in if they involve twitter or similar, but I do not get upset just because i cannot enter due to not using twitter and others. I just feel bad when I have seen people giving contest vendors a hard time..... :(
(just incase someone outside of our little family reads that, No I am not talking about anyone here in particular.... I am just saying in general. :) I wanted to make that clear so nobody yells! Lol)

I have several pages yet to catch up on, but that whining and arguing is why I stopped doing the other contests. There was such a KERFUFFLE over Rich winning that stupid Butterbeer. I didn't want to be the next target and decided I don't need free juice bad enough to risk it, so I quit. I figured if I won something, then there'd be whining that Rich and I are married and we shouldn't BOTH be entering, or some such BS. Life's too short, ya know?
