My friend told me today that she is jealous of my XCube 2, so that gives me an excuse to buy the black one and pass my silver one down to her. Found that Misthub has them in stock, ordered one and they have already shipped it out to me.

That's so sweet of you!!! I'm getting close to getting my purple nano!! Just have to wade thru some muck over the next few weeks to budget it in.
We were chatting online today and I was mentioning that I had 8 TC mods now and that she really should have a backup since her sigelei 75 is constantly running out of battery so I should give her another one. She was like, "whatever you're not using" and then I asked which one she liked. She mentioned the XCube (since she likes the pretty color when you trigger the mod). At first I was thinking....damn...I'm still using that mod, then thought about it and since the mod is pretty cheap to begin with, it gives me an excuse to get another one.

I'm just glad she didn't say she wanted my DNA200. LOL

The black one is really nice looking! I saw a hand check of one today and now I want a black one, lol. You are very sweet to be passing your silver one down to your friend. There are people who are ready to kill for theirs, lol! :)

Battery people? Question? Or tell me which section of the forum would be the best place to ask?

The 18650 batteries I got for that Spire mod that Cody sent seem to be dying on me prematurely, but then they don't show fully discharged when I put them on the charger. This morning, I put a freshly charged battery in the mod at 5:30 and was using it along with the Disrupter (two tanks with different flavors, ya know) and it went dead an hour later. I had maybe 20 or 30 puffs off the Spire when it died. I took the battery out and put it back on the charger about half an hour ago (it's that Nitecore Intellicharger) and it showed two solid lights immediately with the third one flashing. It's probably done charging already (it's upstairs so I can't see it from here). So it looks like it still had plenty of juice in it, but it quit working.

The other battery, that I had used yesterday, only took two hours to charge this morning, and it normally takes 4 to 5 hours. It had died yesterday prematurely, too, but at least it lasted longer than the one this morning.

So would this be a fault in the batteries, the charger, or the mod? Rich is thinking the mod, like it's reading the voltage wrong and shutting down early. Would that be reasonable to assume? Or might it be bad batteries or charger? I hope this mod isn't done for - it's SO gorgeous and I LOVE IT! I figured I'd put yesterday's freshly charged battery in when I go back upstairs (it's done with it's "rest period" after being charged now) and then switch the display to show the voltage so I can see what it's doing as I use it, and then see where it is when it shuts down.

Anyone have any ideas?

Gimme some technical details... what kind of batteries? How many ohms? Wattage?

Top issues I can think of without knowing more are possibly too low amp batteries for the topper you're using which would cause battery damage, bad batteries or the charger isn't charging to full.

Also, do you have a multimeter? Like for electrical work? It could come in handy for a diagnosis.

The best way to test is if you can verify the voltage when the Spire says that the battery needs to be recharged. Assuming that it is working properly, the battery should read somewhere between 3.2 to 3.5 volts when "dead".

Rich has a volt/ohm-meter, is that what you mean? I'll ask him to bring it in and when this one that I'm using goes dead, I'll have him check it. I have the readout set to "volts" right now, so I can keep an eye on what the discharge rate is (I'm not sure that's the right phrase, but hopefully you know what I mean).

As far as the brand, I don't know. Racegun told me to get them. :) There's a post waaaaay back in this thread with a link to them, but I don't remember when. A month ago, maybe. I thought I might have bookmarked the page, but I can't find it. Rich ordered them, so maybe he saved it... Supposedly the brand name is under the stickers, but I haven't peeled them off and I can't remember now what the name was. I think they're 20 or 25 amp and 3.7 volts. I'm definitely not overusing them. I have a Protank on there with a 2.2 ohm coil in it. These batteries were lasting me all day, and then some (they'd still read 3.7 to 3.9 volts when I was done for the day, once I think it got down to 3.5), so this morning to have the fresh battery in and have it die after an hour of not even using it exclusively was a bit of a shock to me. I'm sitting down here at the computer with the Disrupter, so when I go back upstairs, I'll try to find out for sure what the brand is and everything, and update later when I come back down here.

The best way to test is if you can verify the voltage when the Spire says that the battery needs to be recharged. Assuming that it is working properly, the battery should read somewhere between 3.2 to 3.5 volts when "dead".

And the volt/ohm-meter will tell me that, right? Cuz once the Spire's dead, it's not sayin' NUTHIN' to me! LOL! I'm watching this one, though, so if it goes dead and the last time I looked it still said 4.0 or 3.9 or something, then that's definitely a problem. But still not sure WHERE the problem might be. I hate to order and wait for new batteries if there's nothing wrong with these. Or another charger. I'm worried it might be the mod itself, and then I'd be heartbroken. So I HOPE it's the batteries or the charger.

OK, this whole battery thing was probably another ID10T error. The second battery died on me, and it was still reading 4.1 volts the last time I took a hit off it. Rich was asking me a bunch of questions and I was trying to explain the details to him, when he asked me, "Did you telescope it in far enough when you put the battery in?" I said, "Um, I THINK so..."

Anyway, he got his multimeter (he said it's the same thing) and the "dead" battery was still reading 4.2 volts on that, so he put it back in the mod, screwed it down until it was firm, and just like that, the damned thing works. I haven't been screwing it down firmly enough, in my attempt to be "gentle" and not squish the spring too much. I just didn't want to have to buy a new spring soon, but he told me I could just pull it back out a bit if it got too squished. So I did another

It still might die on me, but I'm pretty sure it was MY fault, not the mod, the batteries, or the charger, and it will work just fine for the rest of the day. And the other one will work just fine tomorrow... I just need to learn how to use this stuff properly. Argh...

Hey guys! Just thought I'd throw in a fun "accident" in the juice category. Everyone has had a maple bar sometime in their life, right? How about a chocolate doughnut? Like them both? How about putting that maple goo on top of the chocolate doughnut? Sound like something you'd eat? Well, I was testing some Brownie Deluxe (Star Mountain version) and the tank was getting low, but I was feeling too lazy to go down to the dungeon to top off the tank, so I grabbed this PIF'd bottle of Junjii Maple Donut that was close by and topped off with that. Wow! About 1/4 tank of Brownie Deluxe and 3/4 tank of Maple donut and it's an awesome flavor. Try it. You'll like it. :)

Sounds like Rich and Lannie are having a better day...this makes me happy. Having a quiet day here, Jim went in for a few hours and brought home lunch for both of us. He went to go see if his truck will pass inspection, and then he'll be home to take a nap before he goes back in to work his overnight. I hate that he has to do it, but until all of his new employees are up to "his" speed, it's his way of getting so much more done without dealing with phones, vendors, or being called to the register to help every 3 minutes.

I swear, I have to find everything out by reading ECF. And he's just in the next room! Bragging all about this great flavor he came up with, and didn't tell ME! So I marched right around the corner and made him let me taste this wonderful new concoction, and he's right. I think THAT is going to be my breakfast vape from now on. I'm gonna go mix up a batch of brownie juice in a minute.

Oh, and I got distracted - I was TRYING to catch up on this thread (from back on Wednesday), but I detoured over to the VapeMoar contest thread and then forgot what page I was on. Now I have to get back upstairs, so I don't think I'm gonna get caught up after all. I really just want to go curl up on the couch and watch movies all day. I am so tired, and I haven't been able to shake this sinus thing, either. I need to make more medicinal tea. And some maple-covered brownie juice. ;)

Yes, @redrebel821 I think we're both feeling a bit better today. At least mentally. Haha. Morning chores were a bit of a chaotic mess, with two bursting full momma cows hollering for their babies and two VERY loudly complaining hungry babies hollering for their mamas, but we got it all sorted out and the cows' udders got emptied and the babies' tummies got full, and I still brought a bit more than 3 gallons of milk in the house. Everybody wins. :D

Now if those blasted chickens would just finish their molt and get back to laying eggs...
