17 hrs quit

I couldn't pass up 1-1-11. Just too good a quit number. :) It hasn't been easy, but when I consider that vaping is pretty much the same as smoking, except I'm not destroying my body in the process, I think that's a good deal. (Now to get all this pipe tobacco out of the house!)

Does anyone know of a relatively cheap way to get big vape? These Joye 510s may be life-savers, but they don't deliver everything I need.

Anyway, hope all are well, and enjoying a good start to 2011.

You don't want to be using low resistance atomizers on a regular 510 battery though. It will be dead in short order.

My history is as follows:
  • XhaleO2 from 7-Eleven (super mini)
  • eGo 3.4 volts produced, started dripping, more taste and vapor
  • 5volt passthough --> Cheap way to get a higher voltage, but you're tethered to an outlet. Much better vapor quality/quantity.
  • Ordering a 5v GLV2 on the 10th, untethered 5v

Congratulations on making the switch! 1/1/11 is absolutely too good a quit number to pass up. It's easy to remember and it will probably help you through some of those "just one won't matter" urges. My quit date is 8/9/10. Anytime I was really, really tempted to cheat and have an analog, I remembered my attachment to my very cool quit numbers and that helped me get past the temptation.

I would wish you luck but you won't need it. You're well on your way to a healthier new year. Happy Vaping!

Thank you! I just couldn't imagine going another year with my lung problems. I had an ultrasound done on my heart recently, and the technician told me I had emphysema, that she couldn't see through my lungs! So I knew it was time. The lungs feel like garbage right now, but they're healing, slowly. I believe in the 12-step adage that "one is too many, and a thousand never enough". I know that! :)

Hope you're well.

Oh...by the way; I was dx with COPD over 2 years ago. Suffered greatly and was on many breathing meds. I'm no longer on them...still take the singular, but more for allergies than any breathing issues. This is my first December in 4 years that I have not ended up in the hospital!!!!! I still have to see how January goes, but we have had some serious cold here in Ohio and I have done great so far. (fingers crossed for us both)

That's fantastic. It's good to hear. I figure I'm young enough that my lungs can heal. Besides, there's a whole world of vaping to explore. I figure this time next year I'll be the mod expert, or maybe it'll be mods against rockers. Who knows. :) (Dumb joke.)

Hope you're well.

Thank you! I didn't know enough to not order that atty. So a regular 510 is 3.5v? Or something like that? I'll look into a 5v passthrough. I use a passthrough right now, and it's my main PV, since I tend to spend my time here in front of the 'puter. :)

Hope you're well, and thanks again.

There is a lot of things to learn, but they really are only in a couple sections, so it isn't like school. If you use a passthrough . . . is it one that can come off the USB cable, one with a battery section, or just a USB cable with the doohickey on the end?

I'm a little under the weather, so forgive me if headfog makes me type funny. :) A 510 device will say 3.7 volts, but by the time it gets to the atomizer, it will be reduced to around 3.2-3.4; a KR8 style battery is said to be unreduced, but I don't own one, so I can't say for sure; then you have mods that can be 3.7, 4.4, 5.0, 6.0, and 7.4 volts. Mathematically, and functionally, I've decided on 5v. I say mathematically because of how warm I like my vapor to be, compared to the ohm rating on atomizers and cartomizers. 5v pleases me, and will be easy for my to get the right hardware for.

You certainly have found the right place here . . . between the lot of the members here, you will have a simple transition! Everybody here has made my journey so easy and wonderful!

Ah yes, the moment of clarity. My dad died of lung cancer 24 years ago. Everybody else in the family quit smoking when we learned that his cancer was inoperable... except me. Some folks are slow learners, she said as she looked in the mirror.

I'm extremely grateful, for your sake and mine, that there is such thing as vaping now.

Yes indeed! Many 12-step adages translate easily to this process.

I am, too. :) I've been going back and forth between my regular 510s and the USB passthrough, basically so that when one gets hot, the other one is ready at hand. Feelin' positive, and hoping all who are also staying quit are staying strong. :)

Hope you're well.
