Places that sell specialty flashlights likely will sell both, as they use the same batteries and chargers. Not familiar with any store names.
Also check hobby stores that sell remote control planes, cars, and boats, as I believe they use the same batteries.
Do not put non-rechargeable batteries in your mod. :danger:

Orbtronics is a good place to get Panasonic batteries.

I called the local Batteries Plus store and the person I talked to didn't have the slightest idea what the 18650 is.

Orbtronics is what I use also. I was so disappointed with Batteries Plus.. So much for their slogan..

Unless its a specialty flashlite shop (such as LightHound), a RC hobbby shop, or a vape shop, chances are you won't find any off-line.
But I've also salvaged quite a few 18650's around the house from dead laptop power supplies and cordless tools. Often, 1 or 2 18650s in these power supplies go dead, the others in there are salvageable and can often be charged up.
