1st Clapton Coil Build

I built my 1st Clapton this morning. 26g Kanthal core and 28g Kanthal outer. Dual coil 2.4 mm ID, 4 wraps each came to .28 ohms. I put it in the Mutation X v3. .28 ohms is too high for the parallel mech box, but 70 watts on a regulated device is sweet. How about lower ohms for my parallel mech box? Would 24g N80 core, and 26g N80 outer, 2.4 mm ID with about 5 wraps per coil be good?

I've found that claptons (for me at least) don't do too well on mechs (too much ramp up time, IMO).

Parallel or twisted for me.

Thanks - Maybe I can build to a higher ohm and put it on the Noisy Cricket series mech.

That would definitely work...on my series mods, I put the biggest, fattest coils with the most wraps I can fit in there.

Try using a higher gauge wrap wire, normally 36 gauge outter wire is standard for mechanical devices. Also try nichrome instead of kanthal, ramps up way faster on mechs.
