I had a piece of sheet aluminum I had been thinking I would use to make a mod, so I finally broke down and did it.

It works pretty well. I'm not certain how it charges nor how long it will last on the battery. I will post back when I've used it some more. It does work in USB passthru very well. It's very light and fits well in my hand.

This was this basis for my charging part. It's a Digipower back up battery for a cell phone.

I cut out a battery holder from a cell phone. It provides the contacts for the battery.

Here's the battery I used.

This is back side of the battery holder I cut from cell phone and the charger from the Digipower after soldering together.

Here it is mounted in the box I made.

Yea I can do that but I have to wait till I get some extra hands. I'll do it later tonight and post back.

I know it looks rough but now that I know it works, I'm gonna try to clean it up a little. Probably build a different box to house it all. This was more playing and testing more than anything.

Ok...Been vaping on for almost 6 hrs. Doesn't seem to have dropped in performance yet. That's with pretty steady vaping. Put it this way I have refilled the cart (PTB) 4 times.

For the voltage readings opuscroakus, 3.7v normal, 3.4v atty engaged.

I wouldn't say there is much change in vapor production, which makes sense since voltage hasn't really changed any. It does seem to be consistent. After 6hrs it still seems to be holding up fine.

So far...so good. My only question now will be how it charges, how long and how well?

I guess if I would have looked closer I would have seen that you went straight from the battery to the switch instead of from the 5v out of the removed USB connection. I was really interested in the voltage drop from 5v but since you aren't using it I guess I'll need to wire mine up to an atty and test. Will give me something to do over the long weekend.

Thanks for the test and results.

Yea, something happen to the output on the Digipower and I had to swap to the battery. This one was the one I made for my girlfriend and one night we smelled some circuit burn. Not sure what happen. Nothing was shorted as far as I could tell but it made me go straight to the battery. I have another Digipower and I accidentally ripped off the trace when removing the output USB socket, so I have that one to the battery as well. I wish I could get the 5v output. I did notice the difference. Might be a good reason to go buy another Digipower! :)
