I've been so busy with work I haven't had any chance to play until today.

Well my first attempt was the other day but it doesn't count since I just added one flavoring to the base. And hey it was vapable but far from perfection of course lol.

For my 2nd batch. I went with Sugar Cookie @ 7.5% and Vanilla Custard at 4% 50/50 PG/VG base no nic. Just making a ml or two worth at a time and wow I am impressed with how good it tastes right after mixing. Needs a few other notes added to complete to flavor but as is I could vape and enjoy it now.

GOODBYE juice makers, it was, err, expensive knowing ya!

From here on out I am a DIY guy and I can tell I won't have any problems mixing my own flavors I will enjoy for pennies! Maybe hit the vape lounges now and then try anything new that I might like to attempt to make besides that. No more $20+ per 30ml!! If you are on the fence about DIY go for it! Not hard to get something you will like at least and can refine from there further.

Just hit the new juice again and it tasted even better! Oh yes I am sooooooooooooo done with retail juice.

Can anyone tell me how people use the Ethyl Malto crystals? I am assuming they are added by % to a base liquid like PG and made into a liquid solution prior to being added to the juice mix. Would 10% EM and 90% PG be a good place to start or is that to high a % to fully disolve in for the EM? Thanks!

How y'all are, Cajun?

Welcome to DIY-Land :) I've been playing with DIY for a few months now. I'm more about snagging existing recipes and maybe tweaking a bit to my taste. It's pretty amazing...

I think you're correct with the EM (I get the solution already diluted.) You'll want to make your own dilution and then add that as a percentage (usually less than 5% from most of the times I've used it.) It's a sweetener/balancer/smoother that can help round-out your mixes. If you don't have EM, Cotton Candy or even sweetener can be substituted. You'll probably get a slight taste difference, but all three of those are sweetener variants.

There are a number of folks out here (Hoosier, Dannyv45, Bill's Magic Vapor, to name a few) who have some extensive blog articles on mixing and suggestions with the ingredients.

I've enjoyed the recipes I've stolen borrowed from other mixers. It's pretty easy, and certainly less expensive than buying (and waiting on shipping or making the trip to the local B&M)

Enjoy!

How's ya momma and dem Dinger? ;)

I do the same thing for now. I've got a pretty long list of recipes I ummm liberated from the net most from this forum no less. Of course I don't have every ingredient for each one but I can tell by looking at what is being used in my bakery flavors I enjoy crosses over on a lot of them. Plus the recipes give me a good place to jump in and adjust if I think its going to be one I like.

Just rang up another batch I call it "Threesome" by ...... Juice :toast: HAHA...

Actually I just adjusted the 2 above flavors for % based off how I felt they were tasting (lowered the vanilla custard a bit and upped the sugar cookie) then added in a few more to give it more bouquet and depth. So I added in a touch of Toasted Marshmellow and same rate as the custard and a hint of Cotton Candy with some Cinnamon Danish at the same rate as the sugar cookie. Give it a nice shake and a very long steep, must have sat there at least 5 minutes. Then onto clean wick in the drippers and WOW. I think I am close to a winner already. I am thinking that it is going to be hard to go really wrong with the flavor profiles I enjoy even if I only nail down a few ADV recipes for my tastes I think I will be able to vape most anything I come up at this point and I've been at this less than a day. I am thinking of mixing this current formula in 30ml and letting it set to homogenize and see if it smooths out even more which I am sure it will.

I should have given myself the nick PillsburyDoughboy um um I do love me all sorts of bakery flavors!

And I totally donked out and forgot to mortar bowl the EM crystals. No idea why I thought they would be easy to get into solution like salt. Doesn't seem to want to play full grain size. Glad I only made a few ml of it. Let it sit and mortar some into dust next run. Did have Cotton Candy on hand though ;)

In Lafayette Relapse.. And yes mine seem better even just mixed no steep time at all then many I have tried before. I don't see them getting worse just melding the flavors more and making some more pronounced then others or starting and finishing on a different flavor. Seems you can toss just about any baking flavor in with some dough, pie crust, waffle, cookie etc and some out with something decent. I will say this though I am starting at 50-100% more than the flavor makers suggest to get going. I figure I like the flavor so might as well aim higher first round. Most of my recipes have overall flavor %'s way above the suggested starting point I noticed. Even when I got MBV juices I always got a few extra flavor shots and some still lacked that flavor punch. Their Cinnamon Bun is nothing compared to the One I was getting from Easy Vapors. Their price isn't bad really still more than DIY but their Cinnamon Bun is my standard by which others are measured and the one I hope to recreate. Meanwhile all the other cinnabon, stick bun, monkey bread, rice crispies, sugar cookies and other things all just seem to fit together naturally and then you add in some custard and cream hints and its on! LOL

BM- Thanks for the tip. I'll just heat it and shake it... Again lol. I'm sure it just needs to steep ;)

Don't forget to check out "Vape Wizard" at the moment I forget who it's made by but it's a staple in my arsenal. I'm a dessert junkie and love my chocolate vapes and vape wizard smooths it out and gives it an... Earthiness is the best way to describe it. Makes it thicker. Hazardous to your coils, but when chocolate juices are your thing you kinda learn real quick everyone is gonna destroy coils real quick :D

Congrats to you and glad you are having fun. I quickly got interested in DIY and only bought juice one time last year. (can't turn down an 80% off sale). I know a lot of recipes call for sweeteners but personally, I leave it out of what I make because my coils do not get as "gunkie" as quick. Just my own 3¢ (inflation). Continued success to you. :)

DIY does spoil ya! I cannot imagine buying juice anymore. Also the same goes with rebuilding. I have learned how to do Kayfuns and Protanks. So now I never have to buy replacement coils!

I refuse to buy a tank that I cannot rebuild. I bought Japanese cotton and wire to last me at least a couple of years for 9 bucks! I make a 2 time a year purchase for nic and PG and VG and my flavorings that is usually 70 dollars. So for about a 150 a year I am set!

I've been spending a lot of time in the TFA thread. One thing that seems to be working well for me is Bill's Magic Vapor's concept of High Flavor Mixes (HFM). I was stunned at first when I see recipes of 20-30% flavorings. But, just about everything I've tried with that philosophy has been immediately vapable. Yes, some flavors settle out a bit after a day or two, but "mix 'n' vape" has been a bonus. I've read and wondered about folks who mix and then need to let stuff "steep" for a week or two. I'm way too impatient and don't want to have to sit for very long. I think that philosophy revolves around lower percentages of flavorings (LFM) and needing some extra time for the flavors to really come into their own. Again, my impatience hasn't lended me to going that route, but maybe one day when I'm really bored ;)

I've spent a lot of time there researching as well Dinger. Lots of good info on what mixes well together. I'm going to get a magnetic stir plate now that I am convinced DIY is the way for me going forward. Reduce the "steeping time" but 100x. About to mix up some more of my most recent recipe for a larger batch with nic added this time. I know it can affect taste overall.

Just starting out myself. My ADV is a fruity custard with sweet cherry + peach or strawberry and Colonel Custard by T-juice (I'm in UK).
Curing 30mL at the moment of that, plus I made up a basic Strawberries & Cream (sweet cream & bavarian cream & custard), but it's not quite ready yet.
Got TPA New York Cheesecake and Blueberry ready to pick up monday from the post office :)

Yes it saves soooo much money!
