24 gauge is going to be awfully thick. Most recommend 30. I personally use .2 or .223 nickel because I dont like how easily silver breaks
Do you notice any difference between nickel and silver? I still have some silver left that I am using, but am trying to decide when I need more NR whether to go with silver or nickel. Both are pretty cheap so just want to see what is most affective and whether there is any difference between the two.
Nickel gives slightly more resistance. In either the Penelope or Ody Nickel will add less then .1 ohms to your total resistance. As a matter of fact based on the data from my nickel wire the nickel is adding around .08 ohms. but it is must more heat resistant and much more durable.
I agree, I stopped using silver wire in my Iatties as it easily breaks. Strictly Nichrome .20 and Nickel .22 and the same for the dual coil setups. You can go with .16 Nichrome and .20 Nickel but I find that the .20/.22 combo lets me make lower resistance coils with enough twists for my taste.
You can try the silver. But as everyone mentioned, when you wrap that silver around the plastic and tighten it down, it'll just snap right there. Make sure you get nickel. As us all how we know.

I don't use silver anymore they break easily. As for size Non Resistance wires I only use 32 or 34 gauge. For resistance if its a twist coil I use 34 and 36 gauge. if its a dual coil I only use 34 gauge.
I use 1.5mm wick in the Iatty and I get 4 twist with this combo aand end up at about 0.9-1.1 ohm on a single and if I do doubles I make twin 1.5ohm coils
So based on others posts, for resistance I mainly use 30 gauge, and later will try the 34/36 twist.
Would a good gauge bee 32 for the nickel then, or would it be best to get a few different sizes, such as 30 and 34 or 32 and 34?

The thinner the NR wire, the better guys because thinner wires make thinner connections between R and NR wire. I use 0,2mm NR wire and its ok
Thanks everyone, picked up some 32 gauge pure nickel wire. The silver works well, but as others have said it can be fragile at times.
