Tip: to see whether there are bad things happening where you live, try this Google search (example for Rhode Island) -
rhode site:casaa.org
(Replace rhode with a single word that describes your city, county, or state. For ex., if you live in Eau Claire, WI - you might use "Claire" to see if something is being proposed at the city level. Don't forget the : (colon), and be sure that there's nothing before or after the colon (not even spaces or tabs.)

You can also try replacing site:casaa.org with e-cigarette to find out what the media is reporting in your area. This is generally most effective if you use the search tools to search by date. (CASAA doesn't generally issue calls or alerts until a bill is out of a state legislative committee, or is scheduled for a local city or county hearing.)

Apparently junk-free pro-vaping article features comments by local Dir. of a Preventive Medicine Inst. to the effect that vaping could be a powerful cessation tool.

Two junk-free articles aimed at investors, quote "experts" who advise readers that BAT and other manufacturers of vaping all-in-ones are good stock picks.

Yes, it's the story about the puppy who died by eating a cartridge again, complete w/ an adoreable photo  ... one would think that a half-dozen puppies die every day in the UK by eating something that they're not supposed to eat. What is it that they say about "man bites dog?" And again: http://www.westbriton

Verbatim reprint of the recent junk-laden Consumer Reports article advising smokers not to try vaping as a cessation tool. [See CASAA call on MA's bill to extend clean air act to cover vaping: http://blog.casaa.org/2013/09/call-to-action-massachusetts-e.html]

(Syracuse NY US local paper) E-cigarette stores spread in CNY: Are they safe? | syracuse.com
Junky article has brief comments from local vape store owner, buried in the usual "fears/concerns/unknowns" and other junk from local ANTZ. Once again, the message to smokers is to avoid trying vaping as a cessation tool. While not a verbatim copy of the Consumer Reports piece, this article was probably written as an attempt to emulate it. Comments are invited, please do so. [At least two dreadful statewide bills proposed in NY - see legis. forum.]

Reprint of Sally Satel's 2/14 pro-vaping WaPo article. First reprint that I've seen. [PA's SB 1055, a simple minor sales ban, has passed the sen.]

(Morgantown WV US - WVU student paper) http://www.thedaonline
.com/opinion/article_d92d6588-984c-11e3-bd4b-001a4bcf6878.html

Student-written pro-vaping article, contains no junk except a rhetorical Q about flavors and minors. All WVU campuses are "smoke free" (including the grounds), and have ammended their policies to include vaping, as far as I can tell. [WV's simple minor sales ban has passed the house.]

Appears to be a story about the increase in local vaping stores. Behind a functional pay wall, so I couldn't read it, but since the title contains the word "concerns," it almost certainly contains junk. [OH just passed a simple sales minor ban.]

(Franklin Park IL US local Trib subsidiary, re: Cook Co. ord.) http://franklinpark.suntimes
.com/pioneer_contactus-WYD-07012013:article

Cook Co. minor sales ban introduced. Article doesn't mention a possible ban on vape stores within a certain distance from schools, it's not clear if this is still part of the ord. as described in the Trib's piece last week. Some alarmist minor junk. [See also post in legis. forum on IL HB 5689 which would mandate special packaging.]

As reported in this space two days ago, MN now has a bill which would extend its clean air act to vaping ("vaping=smoking"). This one has been introduced in the house by Rep. Phyllis Kahn, but Sen. Kathy Sheran is also planning to introduce a similar bill in the st. Sen., according to the New Ulm Journal: http://www.nujournal
.com/page/content.detail/id/548578/E-cigarettes-deserve-study.html?nav=5127

Both articles contain some junk.

(Twin Cities MN US local paper - Re: N. Mankato) http://www.startribune
.com/blogs/245833891.html

Another story about the hearing in N. Mankato tonight at 7pm for ord. that would redefine vaping as smoking. Mankato and Sleepy Eye have already done this, and New Ulm is likely to be next. Also references Sen. Sheran's plan to introduce a similar bill in the st. sen. No junk.

As reported in this space, the Roswell Park Cancer Institute "Third Hand Smoke" study of PVs has started to spread to local media. It was cited yesterday in a press release by John Banzhaff regarding child custody cases in which a parent smokes. See Dr. Siegal's blog: http://tobaccoanalysis.blogspot.com/2014/02/are-you-smoker-who-has-been-awarded.html
[CO's clairfied simple minor ban, SB14-018 out of cmte, ready for the sen. floor. Nothing else that I know of is happening there.]

Junk-free article superficially analyzes the industry trends, cites the well-known quote by Wells Fargo analyst Bonnie Herzog (vaping sales may eclipse analog sales in a decade). Although the article curiously ends with what looks like a promotional blurb (completely with a link) for Icon Vapor. [Two vaping bills recently died in OR's legis.]
