So as I mentioned in other posts, I tested the new L2 510 on a trial run this morning. This is what I had to say.
I just recieved my L2 510 kit from Strictly e-juice yesterday. I charged the battery overnight for 8 hours, used for 20 minutes and recharged for another hour as the instructions said. This is the stainless steal one but I doubt that matters.
I tried blowing out any manufacturers primer, but there was none that I could tell. I began with a 510 cartridge filled with straight PG Menthol liquid also from SEJ. I was not pleased with the amount of vapor (very very little). I then took a smaller bottle and added a few drops of pure unflavored VG to ~3ml of the PG menthol and I found a bit better vapor production and no loss of flavor.
Now...I had emailed with Jane last weekend extensively, and she brought to my attention that 901 carts fit on a 510 as well, and as I have been a dse901 user for a few months now, I took a 901 D shaped cart off my 901 unit, refilled it with the PG/VG blended liquid I just tested in the 510 cart, and much better vapor production. Cooler in the mouth, yes, but as a menthol lover thats more than fine by me.
Technical Specs from the bottom of the little box everything came in states
length: 112mm
Battery power: 180-200 operation per charge
battery life:300 charges
Charging time: 120 minutes
3.0v-3.2v
Since this is my first 510, and I've not tried the original 510 I can't comment on a difference between the two. However, my assessment would be:
A little less vapor than the 901 but not by much.
Battery does not have a center hole in it,so leakage down into it is a non issue.
The manual button has gotten stuck 2 times where the LED was off but it continued heating, this is the first charge of the battery, so I was a bit worried on that fact.
Much better performance with a 901D shaped cart than the included 510 carts, and the addition of a little VG to the PG 24mg menthol juice was the winning combination.
Now to add to the above test,Let me set the stage. A 2 weeks ago, I accidentally ordered a 801 USB PT from Rocky Mountain Vapor instead of a 901 PT. I was bummed, as I like the PT's fro while I'm at work, as I'm pretty well chained to my desk and computer.
So instead of sending it back, I knew I had the 510 on the way and thought to myself..."Self....this is a prime opportunity to order an atty and carts and test out the 801 as well.
Problem 1) The LED on the passthrough remains constantly lit red. Not that it's heating all the while, it isn't.
2) Take the cart off and press the button and it does not glow red under the bridge, even through you can hear the hissing of the heating coil.
3) pretty good vapor from my PG/VG blended juice, but no throat hit at all. I haven't tried the straight PG juice yet. This may make a world of difference, but I don't know yet.
4) HORRIBLE wicking action with the cart. For as large as it is, I'm topping off with 4 drops of juice every 4-5 drags. Just doesn't seem to perform well and a ton of wasted juice at this initial test run.
I will give the atty some time to break in, and report further on this, but testing 2 different styles in one day seems a bit of overkill even for me.
So with that said, I'm off to grocery shop.
