The beard was already gray, but the mustache had tobacco stains that couldn't be washed away, so I mowed the lawn, to start over now that I'm vaping. But I didn't know age had made me ugly. It took only seconds to decide to grow it back.

I doubt very much you are ugly. You are just not used to seeing your face! 20 years is a very long time to hide your face behind a beard. Starting over is a good thing.
