I just got my Variant yesterday and I absolutely love it! It does fire a lot harder than my other APV's, but strangely enough I took meter readings across the atomizer while firing the Variant and the actual voltage readings matched what the mod said it was outputting, I then checked it against a Clouper T8 using the same atomizer and settings and got the same voltage readings with much less vapor production.

That seems odd. Just out of curiosity were you reading mean or do you have a TRMS meter?

Not sure, but I'm
guessing RMS. It's a VICHY VC99 Multimeter.

A inexpensive meter like that wouldn't have TRMS, so your voltage readings wouldn't be accurate with a PWM output. Or at least that's what I understand.

I am just guessing but it sounds like the step down isn't working correctly. The battery has 8volts so most of the time using more sane power levels, the mod will have to regulate DOWN.

That could be, and is the reason why I checked the readings against another mod.

Cloned electronics are always a bad bet - I bet if this thing was metered none of the readings would be accurate.

I also pre-ordered the variant clone from vaportek. When did you receive it? Did you receive an email when they shipped it out to you? Im asking because if it was sent without a shipping email, I want to be on the lookout just in case.

Mine shipped Wednesday and I got it Saturday. I did get a shipping notification with tracking number and I bought it the day they sent out the email opening the presale.

I have received a shipping notice on everything I purchased from vaportekusa, so I'm guessing that yours probably hasn't shipped yet. I'm betting that P-Smoke had tons of these sold and it's very likely that the initial shipments sent out were only partial fulfillments.
