Simple question for you mech enthusiasts.

I won a 26650 Mutant V1 from an instagram contest a few weeks ago, but I still can't tell if it is authentic or a clone. I have been trying to contact the vendor that sent it to me, but they haven't responded. It's the V1, so the top does not cone up to 22mm, it is a 30mm cylinder the entire length of the tube.

I believe it is authentic because the engravings and details are extremely precise and carefully done. Also, the pos and neg pins are nickelbrass instead of copper.

I just can't seem to find a serial number anywhere on it - which leads me to believe that it might not be authentic. Do the real ones have serial numbers?

Can anyone with a Fall Out mods 26650 Mutant V1 let me know?

Have you contacted Fall Out mods?

It is really hard to tell anymore...

The USA stuff is pretty easy to ID because you can usually get in touch with the manufacturer. USUALLY.....

I have a Asmodus Black Fat Snow Wolf mod, and it has nothing on it anywhere saying where it's made...it's supposed to be made in the USA, but how does one know?

Authentic does not have vent holes in the 'M,' Clones do. Simple as that.

I had an original and a clone, and the original was not serialized. The clone actually performed better in every respect - less voltage drop and better switch - and was safer due to the vent holes, so I sold my original. Sad days when the cloners are making better product that the original designers...

When the originals are made in the USA generally...generally they are pretty high quality...problem is that many "originals" are being made in other countries.

I have several atomizers, both originals and some clones, and it is darn near impossible to tell the difference anymore....

Not to mention it is entirely possible that some countries are making their products elsewhere as only in the USA is it mandated to state the country of origin of products (to my knowledge).

In other words if you buy a European product from lets say Switzerland, if nothing says it was made there....well...you see my point.

And you indeed have a great point, the Footoon mods are made in the Philippines, and most of the Chinese clones I have seen are as good as the originals!

As a side note I contacted Asmodus, and while they didn't say my mod was made outside of the US, they implied it was "authentic" based on where the serial number is and where it was purchaased, but none the less they never said "yes it is made in the USA, although it is marketed as a "made in USA mod".

Who knows anymore!
