I am starting 2nd day without a cigarette and I want one so bad. vaping so much I am getting a nicotine overdose I think. I just tried some snus and it made me sick. Any suggestions? I was used to smoking 2 packs full flavor a day, cut down to 1/2 pack a day last 2 weeks with e cig but quitting all together is getting harder every minute.

I feel your pain. I have been vaping about two months part time and also cutting back on analogs. I was having the same problem of craving the analogs, but then a wise person suggested upping the nic level of my cart/juice, voila, no cravings. The e's apparently dont deliver nic like an analog does. Anyway, the suggestion worked for me, thought i would pass it along.

Making it feel like you're depriving yourself is the worst thing you can do, it makes you want a tobacco cig worse and it'll make you resent the e-cig for keeping you away from what you really want. If you really want a cigarette, have one. then tell yourself you can have one whenever you want. After that, put everything for smoking in different places in the house so that it will be inconvenient to smoke. Put everything you need to vape within reach. I call this the laziness method :). If you are doing something you enjoy and usually smoke during (for me it was messing around on the computer or playing video games) and you want a cigarette, tell yourself you can have one if you first spend a minute or two vaping and then go hunt down the stuff you need for smoking. I found that between being distracted by what I was involved in, getting a little nicotine, and being too lazy to really want to get up and retrieve my cigs, lighter, and ashtray, I never actually went and had a tobacco cigarette.

Hope this idea helps! We've all been there and it does suck if you feel like you're denying yourself.

Your craving for a cigarette is perfectly normal. Even though physically you may not need it, your mind still wants it. In giving up any addiction, you mind can be a deceitful little stinker and is not getting with the program.

Now is a good time to review all the reasons you were motivated to quit in the first place. Self-hypnosis works, just repeat over and over again all the reasons you hate cigarettes.

You might be surprised at how many accidental quitters there are. I never wanted to quit cigs. Just be able to smoke in the house when it is too hot outdoors.

It worked out that in the end I liked the ecigs better then my analogs. I smoked for 42 years!! Started as a little kid.

I was shocked to find after a while I no longer smoked analogs, It snuck up on me .
If you want a cig ,just have one. The world will not come to an end if you do and as the time goes by you may want it less

It is a kind of automatic thing. Dont worry about it, just vape and enjoy:)

I see you posted you had tried this, well then, if it is any help, my hubby quit with the patch:(
Bad idea but he did it. I guess they say that in 4 days you have broken the craving.

So true Mini_art. The journey would be so much more enjoyable...FUN in fact...if more people will just go at a pace that's comfortable. I'm enjoying myself so much...NEVER once felt "deprived," and never saddled myself with undue pressure and guilt.

Hey Gandy, enjoy the journey and just know (because it's true) that the longer you vape, the easier it gets...and it will sneak up on you as it has for many of us.

Keep active on this forum...its helped me a lot.

I read on your other thread that your breaking in a new attie. That'll take a few days and take your time getting rid of the analogues.Yes some quit right away,i didn't but still got there and now i decide what i use. With no pressure.Don't bang your head against a wall that only you build. It took you how many years to get here? Take a breath :)

I agree with so many of the other posters. If you feel like you need a cig, either grab a high mg liquid and vape a few puffs or go have a cigarette!

My younger sister ordered her PV 2 weeks ago, and just the other day said she had an uncontrollable urge for a cigarette, went out, bought a pack, and had one. She said after the first few puffs she wanted to put it out LOL But, had she fought the urge, it probably would have drove her nuts. She realized right away that no, she didnt really want a cigarette, she wanted her PV :)

I still get occasional urges for one, but just grab a 24mg liquid and puff on that for a few minutes, then switch back to my low-nic stuff. I'm more addicted to the hand-to-mouth than the nicotine, so I vape a low mg (8mg usually) all day. If I try to vape the higher mgs (anything over 12mg) in my usual style, it's just too much nicotine!

I had 5 analogs yesterday and six the day before. (I was 1 1/2+ pack a day smoker before) I find the only time I "crave" them is when I first wake up. I'll have 2 or 3 then won't want anymore for hours. Been vaping for 3 weeks now and I hope to smoke my last in another week or two. Just do what feels right. There are no rules for quitting. Don't beat yourself up. For most of us, quitting cold turkey just won't work.

I was an accidental quitter myself. I've been a smoker for 12 years, and have been smoking about 30 cigs a day for at least 6 years. I never planned on quitting smoking, I just wanted to cut back a little because after having a wicked cold I was suffering from severe bronchitis. On my first day I had smoked only 3 cigarettes, 2 cigarettes on my 2nd day, then just half of one on my 3rd. The half I smoked on my third tasted so nasty I just didn't desire it anymore. I've completely adjusted to vaping and enjoy it more than smoking!!

Way to go Gandy!!!

I'm wondering if continual vaping like I did would be helpful in these types of situations.

Now I started with 0 nic but someone who uses nicotine could maybe switch cartridges so that you start with one filled with nic to get that into your system but then switch to a 0nic cartridge to keep up with the hand to mouth craving.

Then, when you feel a nic craving coming on, switch back to that cartridge. IDK, if this would work, but my PV was stuck to my mouth that first week.
