Auto batt activates the atomizer when you suck on it. Manual has a button to activate the atty.
Auto you can vape and not hold the ecig. Manual you have to press down the button. If you drip, you'd want to get a manual so if there is juice overflowing out, it would be harder to damage the battery. It can still damage a manual if it goes in thru the button hole.

Manual - you press and hold a button switch to make vapor, usually more sealed against being killed by juice leaks (some are totally sealed on the end), not dependent on a drag sensor in the threaded end of the battery, won't turn on accidentally from wind or vibration

Auto - you drag to make vapor, you may need to drag an extra time to warm it up first, drag sensor is vulnerable to being destroyed by juice drips, may turn on accidentally

That goes for PTs and batteries

Most people here prefer manuals - harder to damage them, more control over your hit
