2xAAA box mod

I apologize for the poor quality pics, I'll replace them with better ones tonight.

I used a 2xAAA battery box from Radio Shack, along with the N size connector and a small momentary push button.
I'm using a 3.6v 350mah rechargeable battery out of a cigar I didn't like to power it.

I enlarged the hole that was originally there for the wires, and used that for the button, and drilled the opposite end for the atty. The button on the bottom is very small protrudes just enough to be able to push it.

There's no safety switch, so if I'm going to slip it in my pocket I have to unscrew the atty.

Oh that's a nice size, and I love the smaller sizes, but that will only be about double battery time as the 180s they come with. I like my batts to last almost all day and not have to worry!

Yeah, I'm going to have to break down and put an order in with dealextreme for some better batteries. I had these laying around from the bum cigar, and decided I wanted to do something with them.

Looks exactly like mine except for battery size and button placement. That little switch works great.

Yeah, I've used those switches in other projects before, and they're pretty solid.
They also stand up to the heat I subject them to with my incompetent soldering skills.

An idea, might be fiddly but possible with a glue gun:

Glue the atty connector to the top of a small rotary switch. Then the mod can be switched on or off by rotating the atty.

I like that idea. I'm not sure exactly how to pull it off, but it would be very cool.

Nice work. I love the size of those 2xAAA boxes. They fit nicely in the hand. That is some stealthy switch. I had to look hard to find it.
