Hi I'm Liam and I just managed to cut myself off from cigs about 6 months ago I went from a pack a day then to RYO when cigs skyrocketed to ridiculous prices. A friend of mine recommended a new alternative in quitting... that is if I was actually serious about it, She turned me on to BLU, I tried and hated it, that was about 5 or 6 yrs ago. That's when I started the whole roll your own thing, which I liked better, then I got a email from a company called Njoy about 2 months ago about a way to quit, again with the ecigs but the offer was less costly than the whole BLU fiasco so I said WTFN & gave it a shot. The kit arrived and I tried it and was surprised that the offerings were "not bad" it also had a battery device that worked pretty good but their "juice cartridges" tasted like crap plus they were expensive and they didn't have much of a selection.

I did a little research and found a site that sold refillable cartridges and ordered one that worked with my pen battery device then got some e-juice from a VapeWild Sample sale. All in all everything worked out nicely, then I had to start watching YouTube vids on how to Vape & discovered this whole subculture... anyway to cut this intro short I went and bought a smok Majesty Kit on sale so here we are. I looking for tips on how to utilize my new device because I'm choking slightly from using it, could be that I'm not used to it yet because it's my first time since I only got it yesterday (03/12/2018).

What type of tank and coils are you using? You could try and turn the wattage down, that would help with the coughing,.

Firstly welcome to ecf

Secondly the device you're using is not what's considered a "beginner" friendly device as it probably isin't made to suit your style of vaping (ie: if you're used to vape like you'd smoke a cigarette this device is not for you)
unfortunately i don't own smok stuff as i hated the little experiences i've had with them.

All i'll say is that you're probably vaping mtl style where'as the majesty is a dtl device


MTL: mouth to lung, or how you'd smoke a cigarette pretty much
DTL: direct to lung inhales which i suck at explaining so i'll let someone else do it if they so choose but long story short it's a more "advanced" style of vaping.

Welcome to the forum, Liam. As Qc mentioned, the Smok with the baby beast tank is a sub-ohm device and cloud maker...not to mention a juice eater. Being used to the Njoy and how it delivers, you may want to visit a local vape shop (if one is available) and try out a MTL device. You can always use the Smok mod with any atomizer and then get comfortable moving to DL vaping.

The recommended wattage for this coil is between 55~65W I will try that and maybe go lower?

Hello Liam. Turn your watts down to 35w and shut af, air flow, by about 1/3. Work your way up in watts slowly without inhaling until you find a flavor sweet spot. When you find the sweet spot take very short soft hits until you adjust to dtl, shouldn't take long. It is a learning process. If you're still not happy with tank after a day or two try another.

I would try what the poster @Letitia suggested. Those recommended wattage are usually rated high so they wear out quicker and then you buy more. One point of vaping is to also enjoy the vape when making the switch. No need to be uncomfortable while vaping. Coming from a pen style battery setup to a dl is a huge difference, no wonder you are coughing. Start slow and check out the good info others have posted here on your thread.

Coughing may also be due to too high a nicotine level. If you are using a sub0hm device with your usual juice, don't. Nic level should be somewhere in the 3--9 range depending on your nicotine tolerance. Just wanted to put that out there.

Congrats on switching, I have found that I don't so much enjoy sub0hming but you can certainly experiment more with your device, just watch out for nicotine overload, you have gone from a very Not powerful device to one that will deliver far more vapor per puff, even if you are running it under the recommended wattage.

Thanks Letitia! That did the trick I'm experimenting with a device that I need to learn, like everything else... when I first started driving years ago I was bad @ it but after 25 years behind the wheel I drive haulers now, so time and experience works for everything.
