I have been smoking 35 years and after a couple coworkers started vaping and quit, I was excited at the possibility that it could work for me. I bought a Kanger EVOD starter kit a couple of weeks ago with 18mg juice, american tobacco flavor. I found the juice to be harsh and didn't like it. The wife picked up a small bottle of french vanilla 12mg and that seemed much smoother to smoke. Problem is that it spite of vaping now for two weeks, I still do smoke about 10 cigarettes each day (formerly two packs a day).

First impressions are the feel of the smoke is different and I don't feel satisfied. The worst time is in the morning and I usually have an analog to get me going. Other times are when I get stressed by the kids and just have always stepped out and had a smoke.

I really think this will work and open to any suggestions from veteran smokers who may have had the same issues.

Welcome to the ECF. I vaped and smoked for several months before I finally quit smoking. Don't beat yourself up for not quitting right away, just enjoy the fact that you are smoking less, You might try several different flavors before you find one that satisfies enough to let you switch completely. I found that while vaping helped me to quit smoking, it still requires desire and determination to quit smoking. Good luck, keep trying.:2c:

Everyone is different. Some folks quit right away, while others take months. Still others can't seem to quit completely. A lot of people use snus along with vaping, or alone, to quit. I hope you find your method. Be happy with where you are and keep working at it. Good luck. It will happen if you really want it to.

    Welcome to the forum, btw!!:)

That's not an usual pattern. There is a lot more in cigarettes than nicotine that is addictive. I got down to just one cigarette in the morning (and was fine for the rest of the day) and then eliminated that. So cut back as much as you can and take your time, eventually the magic happens and you aren't smoking at all but you'll find it easier if you just cut down slowly without putting pressure on yourself and just let the cigarette addiction disappear more naturally. At least that was my experience.

I started with e-cigs about 6 months ago and still smoke analogs also. I have noticed that over time the desire for analogs has been slowly slipping away and here shortly I'll not be smoking them on a daily basis. I will say that you're off to a better start than what I did. Just gotta stick with it and give it time to overcome everything about analog smoking.

First things first so welcome to the forum and congrats on being able to reduce your smoking that much, it's a very good start and shows you have good motivation.
I was like you smoking up to 2 packs a day and found that 1st time I gave it a go at vaping with one of the smaller starter kits like yours it didn't really do it for me, the 2nd time I went and bought a MOD instead a Tesla VW and some good batteries and that made me able to immediately smoke my last ciggie and wake up the next morning as a vaper instead, 3 weeks of restless sleep from all the other crap that there is in ciggies but smooth sailing in comparison to other way of quitting like gum or patches.
It's 9 1/2 months now and I have dropped from 24mg to 6mg since then.
For a better hit that is more like smoking I would recommend trying an Aspire Nautilus with BVC coils, the mini version will suit your battery best

Here's something from my personal experience that might help. I had no intention to quit smoking when I started vaping. But I usually kept my tobacco is an inconvienient place (outside in the old ford.) I kept the PV close by and readily accesible. Only rarely was the urge to smoke strong enough to get me outside rolling one up. When it got down to one cigarette every few days, I paid careful attention to exactly what the cigarette did for me that vaping didn't. Last one I smoked, about a month ago now it was this: a bad taste in my mouth and a numb tongue, and absolutely nothing else. Remembering that, its easy to opt for vaping instead of cigarettes.

    Hi and welcome!

You're on your way, just give it time. As others have said, everyone quits at their own speed. After 35 years, you are giving up an old friend. Someone that has always been there for you: to calm you down when you were upset; to get you going in the morning; to be with you when driving; to help you celebrate...it's the longest relationship you've had in your entire life, except for your family. If you weren't so enmeshed you would have quit the first time you heard it was harmful. It's like trying to break up with someone you know is bad for you, but you've been with them so long, you can't imagine being alone. I smoked for 40 years; I know the feeling.

Try not to focus on quitting smoking. You actually aren't quitting, you are finding something you like better. I'm one of those who liked smoking and never planned to quit. I just got an e-cigarette thingy to play with; I thought it was a gimmick. Then I got sucked into the subculture - Toys! Candy! New People! (Novelty seeking is a hallmark of an addictive personality) Then one day I simply forgot to smoke. Now I have pretty clouds to play with and yummy juice to vape (but I only like one :(). I have been tobacco free for over 2 years.

The hardest cigarettes to quit are often the one in the morning and the one when you get in your car. It can take awhile. As another member pointed out from 30 to 10 is a huge(!) improvement and going forward is what's important. When we stop smoking we are doing less future harm to our bodies, but we will not undo all of the damage we have sustained or possibly inflicted.

If, after you experiment with various nic levels and juice delivery attachments you find yourself still craving, check into WTA (Whole Tobacco Alkaloids). Some people find WTA curbs their cravings when straight nicotine juices do not. "The process used to purify nicotine from tobacco for traditional E-juice is rather specific in that it isolates the nicotine with very few traces of other tobacco alkaloids. The WTA extraction method includes these other alkaloids."*

Congratulations on how far you have come already!

Don't put yourself down. It' all about the ones you don't smoke rather than the ones you do. Look how far you've come already. I was a smoker for 50 years and if I can do it anyone can. I suggest you up the nicotine content to at least 18 percent. Sounds to me like your not getting enough nicotine to curb your cravings. Hang in there an vape away when you want to smoke and soon you will rather vape than smoke. Good luck and vape on! :thumb:
