What's your policy regarding discounted items in the shopping cart if discussion about shipping details delays the placing of the order?

Will the initial sale price still be honoured if the price in the cart later reverts to normal price?

Well I had sales items in my cart but due to the shipping complications with batteries and e-liquid I had to ask advice from staff. Next morning I noticed the prices in cart had reverted to normal and I asked specifically if those sales prices could be returned while I complete the order and the staff replied in the affirmative.

Great. After the weekend the staff was back and I submitted my completed shopping cart for the required manual invoicing when staff bluntly informs me that the sales prices I had earlier asked about weren't valid after all.

Besides maybe advicing your staff to be careful and to address specific enquiries correctly it might be a good idea to also display some kind of notice to the customer when a sales price has a specific deadline to avoid unpleasant surprises at the till.
