Hey everyone. I got my 510 starter kit in the mail a few days ago, and am loving it so far. Not had a single ciggie since last thursday :D Its a great little device. Because of this, I have lots of friends that are now interested in vaping.
I had purchased an njoy/Npro from my local 7-11 about a month prior, just to try it out to see if I would like it (the prefilled cartos were nasty, but filled with some dekangs made it all better). I have showed a few of my friends that device, because it was only 20 bucks from the store, and it would give them an opportunity to see if they liked it. I know that cartomizers are a lot easier to work with being brand new to this, and I have some friends in their 30's who are like, "I just want it to work".
I have never tried the KR8, but I have watched numerous YouTube videos on it, and it seems to be a decent device.
My question is, with opinions from other people, should I edge my friends towards the KR8, or the 4081?
As a sidenote, my friends DONT like the 510...pushing the button is wayyy to much work haha. :p

I can't really say one way or the other since I don't own either model. I can tell you, however, that a manual really is going to be better for one simple reason: The battery is sealed. As soon as your friends get juice into the battery of an automatic, it's a pretty sure bet that it'll be ruined. Seriously, it's takes very little time to get used to manual.

I had a 4081 when I first started. They atty's aren't bad but everything else that comes with it is. I had nothing but problems with the batt't, and didn't like the cartridges. For $30 or so you can get a Litecigusa.net-KR808. It's a much better unit with a longer lasting battery. Your friends will like the auto batt's, until they vape for a while. Then they'll want something that gives more control and better hits.

Thanks for the fast replys :D
I have read a lot about the problems with auto batteries, which is why I got the 510 with the manual battery. I'm not 1000% sure that many of my friends are going to be totally head over heals for vaping like I have been, but I dont want to turn them on to a substandard device that I dont have a whole lot of knowlege with. I'm more or less worried about longetivity of the two devices. Cartomizer and battery wise, ignoring the fact of auto batt+juice=dead

The KR8 is the best cig sized PV hands down, there is no competition, they have the best battery life and very decent cartomizers available now like the premium / turbos, just stay away from the original kanger kr808d-1 cartomizers as they're crap. And you can also use atomizers on them too if you decide that's the route you want to take instead of cartomizers.

The eGo 650mAh kits or the eGo 900mAh individual batteries are what many people upgrade to after buying their initial party store batteries or smoke shop starter kits. The eGo batteries last much longer than those before needing to be recharged (eGos last all day or longer, depending on how often you take drags). Many suppliers have the eGo kits or individual eGo batteries.

Here are a few of the popular web sites:

litecigusa.net
cignot.com
goodprophets.com
liberty-flights.com

There are many threads with information about the eGo batteries in the New Members Section.

The 4081 is the least popular that I've seen. KR808s are sort of popular, but not nearly as popular as the eGo batteries.

Welcome and happy vaping!

A lot of the people I know are not heavy smokers. They just want to do something more healthy, and save a little money doing it. I know the eGo batteries are popular, I'm thinking of getting one now. I guess my next question would be then, If not the 4081, and not the KR808, maybe a 510 with cartomizers? Atties breaking, and cleaning, and dripping is too much for them to contemplate at the moment. Anyone have experience with cartomizers for the 510? or maybe using an adapter to use the KR8's cartos on it? I've been browsing these forums for the past year, but I still am learning so much from you guys, THANKS :D

Standard 510 batteries just don't have many mAh.

I'm an 808 person, pretty content with them, reputable vendors will make good if there are any early life failure problems. For all the "autos are awful" tales, it beats me, since I've had 808 autos running strong for months.

Vapornine's wholesale storefront has 808 kits for $30, pretty sweet (and there's a 5% discount, you'll have to check their area). Vaporetc has them for $37 (IIRC). NHaler and vapor4life have been my own go-to suppliers for 808 family -- excellent customer service.

In the 510 arena, libertyflights has been having super sales on Riva kits, $30 after discount, and Ego kits at $40. They're out of Rivas now, but they should have more showing pretty soon.

I just can't see a standard 510 with 808 cartos -- shorter battery life, lower voltage than an 808, the adapter adds one more widget piece.

I can see the problem with the KR8 cartos on the 510. I'm just trying to find a easy and functional product to recommend to my friends who want to start out in this. I'm thinking the KR808's are gonna be the way to go. I'm gonna snag one up, and if they want to start out, they can right then and there, but if not, I'll have a new toy to play with :D

I'm having no problems using KR808D-1 cartos on my eGo batteries (which are 510 threads). The adapters work great. The KR8 cartos will work fine with the KR8 batteries.

If they get tired of recharging batteries all day, they can upgrade to eGos in the future. Here are a couple of good deals on eGo kits, if you or they are ever interested:

Joye eGo 510 (650mAh) - Standard Bundle (8 choices of colors - all in stock now - ships from CA):
Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - Joye eGo

Use the 20% discount coupon code of ECF to buy this kit for $51.96 plus $2.99 shipping.

Litecigusa.net also has eGo 650mAh kits for $54.95 plus $2 shipping for orders under $75. They are my favorite parts supplier. No discount but they have a rewards program for future savings. Ships from PA.

Electronic Cigarette Supplies & Electronic Cigarette Refills for Name-Brand Electronic Cigarettes! E-Cigs from LiteCigUSA

Welcome to ECF and happy vaping!

I never thought about using the KR8's cartos with the eGo... it sounds like the perfect n00b combination for these guys. Easy, with a chance of enhancement later on :thumb:

Another advantage is the adapters stay screwed onto all of my eGo batteries (except when I have to recharge them), and that helps eliminate the need to always be cleaning the liquid out of the threaded ends of the batteries (which I used to do every time I changed cartomizers). I really like the flavor produced by the KR8 cartos, compared to the Boge 510 cartos. And they don't hiss or sizzle like the Boge cartos have been doing in the last few weeks (not the same as crackling or gurgling...ha).

The 99 cent adapters at goodprophets.com are working fine, but I had to turn the slot on the adapters to the left a few times to lift the round connectors out far enough to make better contact with the round connectors on the cartomizers (to get lighter draws and more vapor). This can be a little awkward, since the screwdriver slots aren't very deep, but once it's done, it's done. Two full turns to the left from when the slot is even with the end of the adapter makes the cartos work perfectly.

I don't know how people are like 'oh if you get tired of charging batteries use an eGo'... 2 x 380mah Xl 808 batts outlast a 650mah eGo battery and about the same as a riva 750mah battery. It's no more room in your pocket and takes a whole 5 seconds to change the cartomizer over onto another battery.

Im not biased at all i've either owned or do still own all of the major e-cigs and mods available, and i do understand how much of a step up battery wise it is from a crappy 510 which has 180mah or 280mah batteries to an eGo, but for 808 users it's really not much more convenient and it's less powerful as the ego / riva only puts out low 3v's, not 3.7v.

I think I'm going to be placing an order very soon for a KR808.
I shouldn't have thought I would only buy one e-cig and thats it.
I just want to get the KR8, and thats it...

I just want the eGo, and thats it...

I'm just gonna get this box and mod it, and thats it...

BUT its still going to be less than my smoking habit. EPIC WIN. :D

That's how it works.. just like when u were a kid and you wanted action figures or barbies... COLLECT THEM ALL !!! :D

I have tried both, I started off in 09' with a 4081 and it was ok, seemed to be a little weak, and I was refilling so it was messy at times. I have been on an 808 most of this year and it is more impressive for vapor production. The cartos are the way to go as far as i am concerned. They can easily be refilled, and from using the 808 batterys (i went to v2cigs.com) they last most of a day, but I always keep a charged one ready to go. I find that using a usb passthrough when I can is a good way to conserve battery life. I am working on several mods right now, first is going to be a juicebox/wetbox on a 510 and also an 808. next in line is a genesis (see all my mods post by raidy) those look amazing!

also, v2 has always been awesome with their customer service and based out of FL, you can use "thankhaynes" to get 10% off starter kits there.

I have recently tried the 7-11 4081's and they seem to be better than the old one i had from totally wicked, but I still like the 808 better.
