There is going to be lawn mowing, sunburns, BBQ deck parties, outdoor concerts and plenty of bikinis.

But not today.

NYC and psyc got the fringe of it, 3 to 6. They dodged the bullet, which is fairly common there. I'm an hour above, and we have 10, expecting 18 to 24. The snow is blowing diagonal to horizontal all morning, with huge drifts. It might stop around 6pm.

I'm thinking chile for lunch, then some braised pork chops for dinner.

I'm freezing just reading this.

Hour 18. Still snowing with 25-35mph winds. With 22" against the door, I had to take the storm window out, step through, then shovel the door clear. Wow, that white wind is fierce. After 30 minutes, making a 15ft path towards the mounds I assume is my cars, I gave up.

And still about 3 hours to go. Poor Fran must be getting buried!!! Hey, @FranC , good luck!

Chicken thighs roasting up, with buttered noodles and a veg. And enjoying a rather nice Smith & Forge hard cider.

It finally stopped about 9pm, then the moon came out to mock me. Probably 24", but with the drifts, it goes from 10 to 40. Was able to shovel out 1 car, and the plow cleared the driveway, so we were able to make it to work this morning. (where they had not plowed at all! we are parked in a cluster while Ramon gets the lots cleared. We will be looking for a new plow contractor.)

Hour 2, the intense cold of the morning has finally broken. Suffering through 50 degree weather was torture. Life begins to spring anew. Temperatures rising quickly, as are the skirts many women are wearing to cope with the increased pleasantness of the sunlight bearing down upon us. The jacket i wore this morning is already obsolete in the 70 degree weather we are forced to endure this afternoon, possibly while sipping Arnold Palmers under a parasol on the lush green Capital lawn across the street. How we cope only serves as a testament to the enduring human spirit on display, along with the long, well tanned legs of young college interns.

St Paddy's day AND our infamous SXSW festival, today is going to be insane. And this year, I can drink! Most of the day in the 60's, high in the low 80's, coworkers already quite disgruntled at a certain pantless office worker that might be drunk already (hint: it's me!!!).

GLORY TO THE IRISH AND THE MUSIC LOVERS! I'm going to pee so much green pee!

Mourning the passing of Chuck Berry. As Ted Neugent said, if you don't know all of Chuck Berry's guitar riffs, you can't play rock guitar.

One of the first songs I learned on electric guitar was Johnny B. Goode. I use his riffs all the time, as does near every rock guitarist. Yea, he was a real richard to most other musicians, especially his back-up bands, notorious legal problems. But his influence on music is undeniable.

Hail, Hail, Rock and Roll. and rest in peace.
