Yes.

You don't need to post 5 new *topics*. You just need to make 5 *posts* in the new members forum.

As others have mentioned, after those 5 posts have been accumulated, you just need to wait for the system update to pick up those posts.

To link the specifics:
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...262-new-members-how-many-posts-do-i-need.html

As part of the forum's anti-spam measures, new members are initially restricted to where and how they can post. This system is based off of your post count, and consists of three stages. Please note that it can take up to an hour for the forum software to update your account between each stage.

0 to 5 posts:
New members can only post in the New Members Forum.
Cannot post links. (Just put spaces in them like this: www. example .com)
Cannot use Private Messaging (PMs).
Cannot have a signature.
Cannot post images (photos) if linked to on another site.

5 to 15 posts:
Members can post in other forums and use Private Messaging.

15 posts and above:
Members can post in all open forums, and can now have a signature.
Note that some forums are private: access is for special membership categories.

------------------
Additional levels

20 posts or more
Access to the Classifieds and Co-ops forums, if the Verification procedure is passed.
Verification is a voluntary procedure, you only need it if you want to access Classifieds/Co-ops.
The process is manual and may take a week or so, depending on workload and the verification method you choose.

70 posts and above:
Members can no longer start new threads in the New Members Forum, but may post in threads started by others.

Please be aware that 'spamming' useless posts for the sole purpose of raising your post count is not allowed, and may result in your posts being deleted.

Hey, new gere but not new to vaping. a little confused on how this forum works. does this count as one of my five posts in new member forums?

Yup. It can be in the form of your own threads, replying to someone else's New Member post, replying to a response in your own thread. The restriction to the New Member's forum is a necessary evil to help throttle in SPAM and better deal with it. Couppla points:

Don't feel you have to wait to get to a particular sub forum on ECF to ask a question. All topics fly in New Members from beginner to advanced.

Please don't put up junk posts just to increase your post count. 'Cause... that's the kind of thing a SPAMmer would do, it gets you off to a bad start on the forum, and if a moderator catches it the posts get deleted and your post count is right back where it started.
