I've been following this forum. trying to get off analogs. Since I saw a lot of whooping about the 510, I ordered one and it arrived today. I am kind of let down. While the drag is very nice, and I like the manual switch, the throat hit is almost non-existent. I have tried 3 different juices, all produce the same results. batteries are fully charged.

It doesn't sound like I am getting the same experience everyone else is. What could be wrong?

I REALLY REALLY want to quit analogs. The throat hit is the most important thing to me. I had one model so far that comes close (the 4071...I think?). I thought the 510 would do it, but it is (so far) a disappointment. Advice?

What I want is a real slammer, something that gives a good kick. That is the most important feature I want.

I haven't tried any of the higher voltage kits, which is probably ultimately what you are looking for. What I do know is that my 401s give a consistently better throat hit than my 510s, even though the 510 produces loads more vapor. I think it has mainly to do with the heat of the atomizer. You may want to give it a little more time to break in and you might also want to try a few more flavors and higher NIC levels if you haven't already.

First try what Elendil said. Some (if not all) take a couple of days to get up to optimum output. I have the Dura-C and it does, another reviewer told me his 501 was the same.

What strenght liquid are you using, it can take a higher nicotine strenght for some heavy smokers to have the throat hit they need. I would suggest trying RY4 high. It does not only knock my socks off...It rips them off!

You could possibly be a canidate for a higher powered manual battery if after giving your new 501 some time, it is still not giving you the throat hit you desire. But I am thinking it will kick in, and you need a higher strenght liquid.

Thanks guys for the replies. I think I will try some stronger solution. Just ordered the RY4. I also noticed that the 510 is already a little better after some use.
sometimes they just got to warm up a couple days(burn off the primer) and there is a learning curve with all pv's to get the right draw

check out the straw mod(it's amazing)

I've had atomizers that I thought just weren't working at all from the very minute I got them, and then they eventually turned out just fine. I found that if I have an atomizer that isn't working when I first get it, it can sometimes help speed up the process to chain vape it with about five puffs in somewhat rapid sucesssion without inhaling. Just puff and blow, puff and blow, puff and blow. Put it down for awhile and do it again. Then put it down for awhile and do it again. If it needs waking up, this is one way of doing it, and eventually you'll know if it is starting to get up to speed.

Doing this has helped me wake up a couple of atomizers I thought were useless on arrival.

On the other hand, if you're dripping too much juice during this process, you could wind up flooding it quite easily, and then you'll need to blow it out. I wish someone could come up with a primer on how to handle various vaping issues, but experience tells me that only experience can provide the answers.

Yep. That works for me too. Not every atty needs it but a few do.

If OP wants throat hit try some of eastmall's 555. Big tobacco. 510 is rather known for it's throat hit (harshness to some) so I'm guessing juice. What flavors? What nic level?
