I am also interested in recycling the cartomizers, if anyone has knowledge of someone doing that. I'd even be willing to mail my used cartos somewhere (preferably inside the continental U.S.) If possible.

I heard someone mention the idea of cleaning them. I'd like to try that too, but I think the heating elements inside the cartomizers ultimately burn out.

I took a drip tip with a fried element and was able to pull off the outer case leaving only the 510 threaded piece. I plan on attaching it to a circuit I'm going to build to Test my batteries. Doubt you can do that with the carty at least not the ones I've seen. I don't need any but if Your a DIY type you may want to do that. If your interested I have a diagram.
Other than that Put it in with the metal recycle stuff you put out.

There is a complete process of filling them properly and getting the most out of cleaning them in my blog, The Vaper's Handbook (link is below in my signature).

Mine are almost 7 months old, been cleaned dozens of times, and still work like the day I got them, though they have taken some damage to their appearance.

Thanks again for the assistance, everyone. Vapers seem to be a pretty proactive group of folks. That's great, considering we seem to be a fairly new evolutionary event. Not sure what kind of legacy we'll leave, but I hope it's a good one.

My cartomizerss are generally lasting 24-30 hours (non-stop) before they burn out (they stop producing significant vapor, despite being refilled). I am buying some fairly inexpensive ones right now, though.

I also cannot get to the "cleaning the cartos" post, I assume because of the 5-post rule.

I've tried every method of cleaning cartos and lucky if I get an extra day. Using carto+ tank I get, before tight draw begins:
light juices= 80-90 ml
dark juices= 50-60 ml
As for disposing I clean the filler out and give them to a friend who's a scrap metal dealer.

Thanks to Shogas. I did manage to get to the "cleaning my cartomizers" post. I hate to say it, but I have to believe that if I had enough ambition to go through that entire cleaning process once a week or so, I don't think I'd have been a smoker or, now a vaper, for that matter.

I do appreciate the link to Dark City Vapor. I may have to try them on my next carto purchase. If someone wants to start up a cartomizer boiling/baking business, I'll be more than happy to send you mine.

What's a "light juice" vs "dark juice".
Light juice= fruits/ light colored juices.
dark juice= mainly tobacco juices.
The darker juices will clog the filler and gunk up the coil quicker. Now using Clearos and Vivi Nova cuz they can be properly cleaned and easily rebuilt- each head lasting about 3-4 weeks.
Keeping the carto fully saturated all the time will determine the longevity of the carto. That's why tanks are so great- no guessing as to when to fill/ saturate the carto. First fill is VERY important and will also determine the longevity of the carto. I vape anywhere from 60/40 to 80/20 PG/ VG. Although now using clearos and Vivi I still enjoy my cartos occasionally.

what brand of cartos is ShogaNinja using, or, at least, from where did they get ordered/purchased?

I'm gearing up to buy some type of eGo and Clearomizer, but haven't decided on one. My real issue is trying to figure out the best way to use e-cigs discreetly in public places like work environments, which will probably mean I'll have to main some type of BOGE 510 system. Unfortunately for discretion, I've seen a hardcore clearomizer/1100 mAH battery in action at a party, and unfortunately everyone who isn't familiar with e-Cigs thinks you're smoking something, not vaping. LOL. So the eGo/Clearomizer will probably be restricted to home use.

The only problem right now is both Boge and Smok Tech and having Quality Control issues- burnt taste and dying after 1 or 2 days.

If that's the issue and you need long battery life you may want to consider a PCC/ Personal Charging Case. You charge the Case and put your mini ecig batts in. When your batt is drained you pull a fresh batt out of the Case and put the drained batt in to be charged by the case. Realize they are small batts but when I visited my vendor last weekend he showed me a PCC Kit that had 4? mini ecigs in it. The Battery/ Case itself will be anywhere from 1000 mah to 1500 mah and the individual batts will be anywhere from 180- 280 mah so you could easily have enough to last the day.
or you could go with either an eGo Mini or SD Keyring:
SmokTech Mini eGo Review, 350mAh of Cute
eGo Mini vs SD Keyring: Compact Electronic Cigarette Shootout
Both are about the same (I own an SD Keyring) except the Mini eGo is manual with a button that lights up while the SD Keyring is automatic. I was SHOCKED at how powerful the SD Keyring is...at the time the Mini eGo was not around and I prolly would've bought it because I prefer manual but realize it has a lit button.
Mini eGo= $12.00
SD Keyring= $20.00

Good Luck.

Just wanted to send out a Kudos to you for caring about the environment and recycling cartos and leaving a good legacy.

You're my kind of vapor!

I appreciate the kudos. The question that ultimately always gets me in trouble when talking about recycling is "where does the recycled stuff ultimately go"? It would be very cool if the manufacturers could simply take an "OLD" Cartomizer and turn it into a "NEW" cartomizer by replacing the heating element and the absorbency stuff, but I don't think anyone's doing that.

Interestingly, I might have better luck simply mailing my old cartos to Vapor eyes er's scrap metal guy
