My first 510 kit I purchased from Perfect Electronic Cig, and it was white.
My second kit was black and purchased from Cignot.
Normally now I just use the black ones.
I have 2 regular, and 2 mega batteries for each of the 2 colors.

Well a little while ago I grabbed one of the White batteries and screwed it onto my black atty and found it would do nothing.
I thought this was weird, so I grabbed another white battery and the same thing happened. I then started to wonder if the atty was dead so I grabbed a black battery, and it worked. So it seems like I cant interchange the colors, but this seems odd to me. Is this normal?

well I assume they are the same. They were called Joye 510. They are different colors and different color leds, buts all are manual batteries.

Both kits came wtih the same stuff in them.
Im a little puzzled at this point.
Both places seem to have a good rep, so I dont think one would be selling knock offs.

EDIT: I just noticed that the white batteries and the black ones look different inside.
if you look down where the atty attaches on the white the center is solid, but on the black ones there is a tiny hole that doest go all the way through

Not all Joye products named on sites are real Joye products, however all the parts should be interchangeable. If it physically screws down tight enough for the base of the atomizer to hit the base on the battery then it's possibly a contact problem, clean the inside threads in the battery and the outside threads on the atty with something that can get inside the grooves.

Since the atty works, it is likely that the center post on the black battery sticks up a bit higher to connect with the center post on the black atty whereas it doesn't reach the white batt's center post. Try a staple mod:

.. make sure the staple ends stay on the center and don't cross to the thread and then try them on the white batts.

The Joye atty has a white, oval ring at the base, under the bridge, as opposed to a possibly round, metal silver one.

I have many different color attys and batts, and they all fit eachother.

ps. I just saw on Tasty Vapor that they have attys for $4.00, tho I don't know if they're Joye. Strictlyejuice, a Calif. company, has them for $6.95.

Tecc Titan and Janty Dura are definitely both Joyes.
This is also odd because the clones may not vape properly mixed with Joye - but there is usually some vape. Are you sure you didn't get a J118 by accident? They don't quite work with 510 stuff, but it's a different model, too.

At this point I dont know. I could take pictures I guess.
I do know that the Passthroughs I purchesed (4) from Ecig mall all work with the black atty's I have.

maybe I should try asking about this on the perfect electronic cig forums.
Thats the kit Im having the problems with it seems

Weird, my wife has black, white, and purple 510 batteries that I bought for her from two different vendors and the attys all work with all three batteries....There must be a logical answer....But, this is a good puzzle for the "Experts" to work on.....To bad you can't show us pictures of the connections from both your batteries....Good Luck and
Enjoy...

This is a pet peeve of mine, but please bear with me...

Genuine Joye510 (manual) batteries can be identified by the dimple in the center post of the connector.
Batts with a flat center post are likely to be DSE510, made by Sailebao (SLB). The manufacture of the connectors appears to be a little inconsistant - some are slightly deeper, meaning not all attys/cartos will screw in far enough to make contact.

Another differance between Joye and SLB are the standard atomizers. Genuine Joye attys have a resistance of around 2.2 ohms, the SLB version are closer to 3.2. Given that 510 batts are limited to approx 3.1 volts when working, an extra ohm of resistance makes a huge differance in the quality of vape - and not in a good way.
You can tell the differance between them by looking at the bridge (the mesh covered section in the middle of the atty) - it is much wider on the SLB.

Even the carts are differant - inside the mouth piece is a washer. In the Joye this is made of hard plastic, but the SLB version uses a soft (silicon?) variety which can twist around and block off the air flow.

Apparently the wholesale price from SLB is somewhat lower than Joye, so it's understandable why stores want to stock them, however there are certain sellers who are passing them off as genuine Joye - and that's just wrong.
If the products from both manufacturers were fully compatible and performed on a par then maybe it wouldnt be so bad, but the simple fact is that the original is better in virtually all respects.

End of rant.

*The above is from personal experience - if anything I've stated is incorrect please let me know.

Just had a look at their site.
They don't directly claim to be selling genuine Joye510s, but in my opinion the wording is slightly misleading. Unfortunately there's not much you can do except not buy from them again.
If you are so inclined you could file a little off the top of the outer part of the connector, thereby allowing the atty to go further into the battery and make contact.
