Hello all, I'm new to the site and upon reading all the helpful posts I decided to switch from my Choice SS no. 7. It was a tough choice between the Ego and the 510. Now since they are compatible, and the Ego is a tad larger, I bought the 510 and an Ego battery as an extra, along with some extra atty's and carbomizers. Im not a heavy vaper and bought the Ego battery to throw on when I go out for a drink or four and will need the extra battery life and performance. Was this a smart choice or should I have bought the Ego to begin with. Thanks for the help.

You will have to get an adapter to charge your Ego battery, the 510 charger wont work and visa versa. You can get them at Totally Wicked. I'm sure others have them too. Plus if your into looks and warmer vapor a cone might be nice as well. I have the 510 but just ended up getting the Riva kits at vapor junction for $49 and adapters at TW.

Use the batteries on the basic kit till they are gone and as they die, replace them with the ego bats! You did fine. Money is not lost and you will find that your purchase was and is a good one. Good luck and happy vapeing!
You cannot charge the ego battery on your basic 510 charger. You will need the ego charger for that specific battery. Nor the basic 510 battery on the ego charger. Is my understanding. Someone else will chime in soon, hope I am not wrong-LOL. Not enough pull for the basic 510 charger to charge the ego and too much on the ego charger for the basic 510 battery.

The battery connector is different on the charge that comes with the 510. You can charge the Ego battery with the 510 charger using an adapter, but it will take several hours instead of the 1 1/2 hours it takes on the Ego charger. You also have to make sure that you don't try to charge a standard 510 batt on the Ego or Mega battery charger. The Ego charger will fry a standard 510 batt.

Most of the Ego users started with the 510 kit and upgraded by buying the Ego kit that contains 2 batts, 2 attys, 2 cones, and all the other stuff that comes in a kit. It's never a bad idea to have several chargers. You just have to make sure they get used with the right batteries.

Here is an example of an adapter that will allow you to charge your ego battery with a regular 510 charger:

eGo charger adapter

As DaveP points out, it will take a lot longer to charge this way as opposed to an eGo specific charger. But you could always just plug it in before going to bed and have it ready to go in the morning.

I would have to agree on the Ego for my vaping needs, I tried (can't remember brand) disposable cigs first and was intrigued and then switched to Green Smoke and finally ended up on Joye Ego and have not looked back.

Of course there are a bunch of options too! cartridges, atomizers, cartomizers and mega cartomizers and it really comes down to preference. I tried them all and all have pro's and con's, even on the ejuice choices companies/flavors. I am starting to wonder it is cheaper to go back to smoking lol :smokie:

ScottBee ran some tests on the 510 and Ego batteries as well as some others and found that the Ego battery tested the same voltage under load as the 510 batts. Still, the Ego produces noticeably more flavor and vapor.

The cone on the Ego helps a little by running the air past a heated atty barrel before it enters the atty intake holes. Intake of the air on the small end of the cone this way may make a difference.

Thanks for all the replies guys, you came through in fine fashion. I intend to one day switch completely to the Ego, but wanted to walk before I ran. For anyone who has had the SS Choice #7, you would know its not the greatest out there, so i wanted to slowly step up. To my understanding, with what I purchased so far, I only need an Ego charger and a cone and I have a fully functional Ego. And you do have to wonder if analogs are cheaper, once you start ordering stuff!

People tend to put the 510 down for its battery, but if you have multiple batteries, a PCC, or a PT it isn't too much of an issue in my opinion. Yes the Ego batteries have a much higher capacity and it will probably be one of my next steps but I'm content to just use my 510 until it dies.

Are analogs cheaper once you start ordering PV stuff? In the beginning you wonder, but once you settle on a good reliable setup it tapers off. Then all you're buying is spare parts now and again and expendables. There are some who never stop though and that's fine too. It can turn into a hobby if you want it to.

LOL, yup, that's where I am at right now too. Hoping it will taper off when I find a decent juice supplier...

And I have also been hearing lots of good things about the ego, however I bought the 510 first and have been using it successfully for 2.5 months now. I like it because it is nearly the size of an analog... so my brain still thinks I am smoking a cig
