Typically a USB passthrough doesn't actually have a battery. It has power as long as its connected to your PC or a power adapter that has a USB port. They are used to provide constant and consistent power to the device. If you are going to be away from your PC or power adapter you will need to take the passthrough off and attach an actual battery. Does that help?

Just curious... if I got a 510 passthrough, do I just connect it to the PC and go or do I need to charge the battery doohickey inside first? If so, for how long? Will I ever need to recharge it again? Thnx!

I have a few. The ones from Janty had the battery in and it appeared charged. The one from ruyandirect didn't have the battery in it - although included in the order - took a while to come up to full charge, but you could still vape with it - I let it set for about 2 hours and it was vaping just like the Janty's...

Aha...I'm so glad to know what a passthrough is and how it works. One just came out for the VX2, which is what I use. Guess I will have to get one...;)

I have every type of battery charger for the VX2 except the passthrough. I am so paranoid about ever being caught without a charged battery, because I know it wouldn't take me long to pick up an analog since I was a chain smoker. And I just can't let that happen...8-o... NEVER!!!

Does the battery paranoia ever go away?

Hi Jan....I live in Kenner....and NO, the battery paranoia never goes away.

I have ordered a Kensington battery pack, car chargers that also have a port for the usb and even a Jumpstarter system from Harbor Freight (which was intentionally bought to power my new portable TV...which I will have to use after a hurricane attack (!) --but now, if the power goes out...it will also be used charge my PV batteries). With Katrina, it took 8 days before we got power--Gustoff, it took only 3 days. OH, and we have a generator too.

Crap, I have to make sure my e-liquid paranoia is satisfied once a storm develops somewhere....go El Nino!

Hi Wezzie! It's so nice to meet a local here. I live on the West Bank of N.O. in Algiers.

I have a UBS for the PC, a UBS that goes into a wall attachment, the regular wall adapter that came with my starter kit, the PPC with both a hookup for the house and the car, and a UBS that hooks up into the car as well.

I don't have any liquid paranoia because I have a real cache of that, plus lots of filled cartridges. I used to stock up on extra cartons of cigs during hurricane season, but these gizzmos don't take up nearly as much space, and what I have will last a lot longer.

I don't know how long the electric was off for Katrina because we were away for 3.5 weeks...Nagin wouldn't let us come back sooner. Gustav took about 4 days. I don't have a generator, but I have a solar power panel that will take care of small appliances, so I think it'll do well enough for the battery charger. I sure hope so...

Let's pray that we don't have any threats this year! I couldn't go through losing my house again.

Thanks for the correct spelling of Gustav. I was too tired last night to look it up.
So sorry you lost your house!!!! Yes, prayers are a daily routine.

Looks like you are definitely prepared for any power outages!!!

The solar panel… is it the portable solar panel (when not in use, it folds up like a briefcase)?

The 510 passthrough does have a built in battery. As long as it's plugged in it will be charging and you can use it at the same time. You don't need to charge it first.

I have an 801 passthrough without a battery and it doesn't really work that well. Does the battery serve the purpose of just providing extra power for stronger vape? That would make sense and entice me to get one with a battery.
