Hi Everyone,
I have noticed on multiple different rta’s and rda’s that on the 510 pin I get some corrosion. The corrosion is isolated to up in the pin where it positive pin screws into the deck and around the pin where it is surrounded by the insulator. This is normally on cheaper Chinese attys but still trying to figure out how to stop it. The corrosion normally turns the gold plated pins black and eventually pits them and had one finally get to the point where it got hot and shorted out. Anyone ever come across this or figured out a way to stop it? I was thinking maybe some kind of food safe grease? Any thoughts?

The pin blackens and becomes pitted as electrical arcing wears it down due to poor contact. If you really want to preserve it, smear some dielectric grease in there before threading it on. This is the stuff used for spark plugs, bulbs and wiring harnesses to inhibit corrosion.
